Vernors

I believe the soda pop Vernors has a picture of the Nain Rouge on it.( http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3221/2598989210_2dab143cb1.jpg?v=0 ) Should this be included? Good Tidings - Navarro (talk) 07:55, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

That would be the Vernors gnome. Brad (talk) 19:06, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Sources

This article is in dire need of some verifiable sources for pretty much all of its claims. DreamGuy 02:28, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

I have lived in the Detroit area all my life and have never heard of this.--Captweez 02:00, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Same here, almost 40 years and never heard this one. -- clintp 01/21/2006

I've lived in Detroit my entire life, and have spoken with several other people regarding this subject. To date, no one has heard of this "nain rouge". The one source that is cited looks dubious at best. I am of the opinion that this entry is not suitable for inclusion in an encyclopedia. Isopropyl 06:40, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Don't assume that because you've never heard of something that therefore it is not worth inclusion. Try Googling Nain Rouge and see what you get -- 36,900 hits excluding wikipedia and derivatives -- though there is also a rock band (from Detroit, I might note) and a movie with the same name. Now I'm not saying that this is a good article -- but the subject does appear to be real (or at least as real as urban legends get). Here are just a few additional links olderwiser 13:03, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Can we keep this entry but change the title from "Nain rouge" to "Nain rouge urban legend". Bigturtle 23:11, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

I believe that the title should remain Nain Rouge. --AStanhope 01:50, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
I agree there is no need to move this as it is not ambiguous with any other "Nain Rouge". Rmhermen 17:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

It looks good: here is a cite from a 19th century book: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/6615/6615-h/6615-h.htm#2H_4_0209 April 15, 2006

Why was the In fiction section deleted?

No reason whatsoever to delete that information. Please explain. Spectre7277—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spectre7277 (talkcontribs) 03:03, 12 December 2006 (UTC).

Nain Rouge Graffiti?

I saw some Nain Rouge graffiti on an underpass driving on Southfield Fwy. today, it said something like:

  "SEARCH WIKIPEDIA: NAIN ROUGE ..."

but I didn't get a very good look at it. I thought it was weird to see Misplaced Pages mentioned in graffiti. It's on the northbound lane around Ford or Warren (Google maps link: ). Has anybody else seen Nain Rouge graffiti? (might be something to add to the article) --Lost-theory 03:21, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Looking at the page history this passage was deleted :

Also the "Nain Rouge Crew" is a group of vandals that draw graffiti art in the city of Detroit,MI. More recently the "crew" has painted up the Eastern Market Yard and has offended certain writers.

The vandals of Nain Rouge Crew include Terf, Defi, Ninja, and Nero. These individuals are currntly being on pursued by some in the graff comunity, its funny that one group of kids can have the whole city of Detroit in an uproar. Ha they might think that were from the suburbs but in actuality Terf is from Joy Rd., Defi is from South West, Ninja is from 7 Mile and Nero is from Woodward. With Love, Turph

Probably not worth a mention. --Lost-theory 22:03, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Strawberry Shortcake?

Why in heck is Strawberry Shortcake included in the "See also"? --ACD 21:53, 30 May 2008

Who Says Nain Rouge = Lutin?

I've had information about the Nain Rouge up on my website Mythic Detroit for years (see www.mythicdetroit.org ), and I've never seen it associated with the Lutin or any other European mythological entities outside of this page. I do see the Dictionary of Phrase and Fable entry, but I'd like to see something more direct linking Detroit's Nain Rouge to the Normandy one. The association is very intriguing, but it doesn't appear to be backed up, and none of the attributes or the appearance ascribed to them (even the Quebecois variant) on the Misplaced Pages Lutin page seem to resemble anything either in the the written mythology of the Michigan colonial period or the limited but growing current pop cultural depiction of the Nain. Ted Nugent? Really?

Bash Ted Nugent all you want - but don't throw in lame shots with mo references to support them. Got a quote in a verifiable source from either the 2010 or 2011 events or from festival supporers? Quote it or take the lame shot off the page. 157.185.95.27 (talk)mjd —Preceding undated comment added 21:39, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
