Proposed deletion of Dérogeance

Hello, Altenmann. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Dérogeance, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, GAtechnical (talk) 13:08, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Animal latrine

Updated DYK queryOn 6 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Animal latrine, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that a 240-million-year-old animal latrine was dubbed "the oldest communal toilet"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Animal latrine. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Old edit

Sorry, I can't answer that question about the source of the information. My only interest in the article was to bring it into line with the biography standards by moving the place of birth from the introductory sentence to elsewhere. You would have to look further back in the edit history to find out who introduced the information. Deb (talk) 12:11, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Move reverted.

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. Your bold move of Blend has been reverted because an editor has found it to be controversial. Per Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, a move request must be placed on the article's talk page, and the request be open for discussion for seven days, "if there is any reason to believe a move would be contested". If you believe that this move is appropriate, please initiate such a discussion. Please note that moving a page with a longstanding title and/or a large number of incoming links is more likely to be considered controversial, and may be contested. Please note that moves that orphan large numbers of links, or create large numbers of disambiguation links, are likely to be considered controversial, and should always be discussed prior to the move. bd2412 T 18:21, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Also, please do not add templates to redirect pages, other than those designed to categorize the redirect itself for maintenance purposes. Redirects are purely navigational devices, and should never have any links to any other articles, or other substantive content. bd2412 T 18:50, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Swill milk scandal

Updated DYK queryOn 22 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Swill milk scandal, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that The New York Times estimated that 8,000 infants died in one year from consuming swill milk that was sold as fresh milk? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Swill milk scandal. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Cheryl Donegan

Hello Altenmann,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Cheryl Donegan for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ColonelHenry (talk) 08:14, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Cheryl Donegan

Hello, Altenmann,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Cheryl Donegan should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Cheryl Donegan .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, ColonelHenry (talk) 08:25, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Your removal

Why have you removed , the Category:Russian words and phrases from the articles Gulag and Psikhushka? Aren't you sure that the words gulag and psikhushka fall into the Category:Russian words and phrases? --Psychiatrick (talk) 10:13, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

No webkitten please. Actually, this ref was already in the article. I'm just lazy and/or don't really care for detail. - Altenmann >t 08:42, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Obrazovanshchina

Would be nice to add 2-3 more sentences and then DYK it, wouldn't you say so? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 20:36, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

No I wouldn't. To make a good article on the (quite controversial) subject would be beyond my skills. Also I don't see the particular value in DYK to justify an extra effort to make the article DYKable. Judging from the dynamics of page views, I conclude it is more to the vanity of the authors than to dissemination of knowledge. - Altenmann >t 07:51, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Template:Tailor-surname

Disambiguation link notification for March 13

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ernst Vögelin, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Neustadt (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Michael Frank

Hi-In 2005, you deleted an article about a drug user Michael Frank. I started an article about a Wisconsin territorial and state legislator named Michael Frank who has the same name. I put a note at the article's talk page about this. Hopefully there should not be any problems-thanks-RFD (talk) 22:57, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Crimean Referendum

I don't know why you don't see a relevance of this. Please compare with other Soviet/Russian referendums. This is a semantic weasel. Also, source clearly states this as the main subject. It is the source that I added and it's the only source for the whole paragraph so far. Psubrat2000 (talk) 08:13, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Sambar - Shambar - Sambal

The relation to Sambal was not my original research but from the reference I had added. However, the inference that Shambar is related to Sambar is, I am afraid, your original research, or if you could provide references that they were influenced by one or the other. rams81 (talk) 15:10, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

I am afraid you have either a weird understanding of WP:NOR or a bad habit of incorrectly reading minds. May be it is time to learn to ask questions instead of jumping to conclusions. - Altenmann >t 15:16, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Clarifying "швець"

Hi, Altenmann. Just a thank you for updating all of the 'швець' dab pages. I was reticent to change them as, with my family being from Poltava, I thought that the literary Ukrainian we spoke may have been Russified (or something to that effect). I couldn't understand where the definition of 'tailor/seamstress' had come from (after all, one of my great-grandfathers was a 'швець'... and he was definitely a cobbler)! Good catch. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 00:50, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
