Once we know what's needed, I can add the citations, as long as you're patient with me -- I'm traveling again, through Sunday night. Lovely spring in this part of the world. How about in your neck of the woods? --Rosiestep (talk) 14:08, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes it did. So beautiful. Need time to concentrate on Althorp, maybe by next weekend. I'm thinking that the art could use it's own article. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:22, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
I know... the library could/should have it's own article... plus the art... I think the Diana Memorial, too. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:30, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
So far, just oogling the pictures and reading captions. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:32, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Art collection at Althorp, Althorp library, Diana memorial at Althorp. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:39, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

He's one of the best, yes - I always like seeing his contributions.

I haven't looked much at those templates - I may do some talk-page tagging tonight, though. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago and it's been taking up a lot of my energy during the week, truth be told. And with the weather turning I'm trying to spend more time away from the computer of a weekend. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 23:35, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Rockie Charles

Hi, Blofeld. Could you check over User:Rhondamerrick/sandbox and give me a second opinion as to whether he's notable. Normally I'd say "yeah, no problems", move it to mainspace and give it a DYK ... but this is my other half's uncle, so I want an experienced editor to have a look before everyone screams "COI! COI! COI" FWIW, she has been rather amazed at the stuff I've dug out of sources this evening, giving her a whole new picture on "Uncle Charles". Ritchie333 19:18, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

@Ritchie333: Looks perfectly fine yup.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

File:Golden Age of Hollywood.png

Over on Commons you asked me to let you know if I noticed that one of the source files for your commons:File:Golden Age of Hollywood.png collage was deleted. Well it looks like commons:File:Greta Garbo in Meyers Blitz-Lexikon 1932.jpg (upper left corner) was deleted in January as a copyright violation, so the collage is once again a potential copyright violation. —RP88 02:52, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, will look shortly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:51, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 16

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. Thanks for uploading File:SpoilsofWarcover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Yes, but isn't that always the case? I don't believe Cary Grant ever won for anything he did, either, for instance. Nor Peter O'Toole. At least Niven was a damn good actor. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 12:56, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Eh, I don't really pay much attention to any of the awards, Oscars or otherwise. I don't always feel they reflect my tastes. Or really the public's tastes, when you come right down to it. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 16:23, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Ben-Hur (1959 film)

Updated DYK queryOn 17 April 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ben-Hur (1959 film), which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Ben-Hur (publicity pictured) had so much unused footage, Charlton Heston used some in Antony and Cleopatra? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ben-Hur (1959 film). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

The DYK project (nominate) 18:17, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

You are not going to believe this: look at the viewing figures in the two days since it came off DYK! Matty.007 08:52, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Quite a lot, although if you compare 15,000 with the 1 million or so people who hit the main page every day, not that many really.. Still, for DYK that's a lot and will probably be high on the record list of views?♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:54, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

High in the month, if memory serves me right it needs over 20,000 in the day(s) it was up, so the 15,000 or so here isn't enough. I was struck by the fact it got more views after coming off the main page, in the last four days, 2 have been DYK days, but the other 2 have had really high views for no obvious reason. Thanks, Matty.007 08:59, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
"no obvious reason" .... its the feature film on channel 5 today in the uk and maybe other TV channels are putting it out for Easter Monday? Victuallers (talk) 10:20, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for that!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:30, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Agh, we could have had 30,000 views! Ah well, thanks for the heads up. Best, Matty.007 15:51, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

File source problem with File:KornélSámuel.jpg

<remove bot spiel> Hi, in trying to clean a backlog of images without {{information}} I noted that File:KornélSámuel.jpg didn't appear to have a photo source listed. Do you have any recollection of where it came from, such as a gallery catalouge or something? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:27, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

@Sfan00 IMG: Yeah it came from the fine arts of Hungary website I think. Click the orange box "Muvei" at I'm not sure though it can qualify as a free image as the photograph itself is obviously not 1909.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:31, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

List of colleges and universities in Massachusetts

Right now, 114/126 of the links on the article are dead and I am focusing on fixing them right now in hopes of getting it to Featured List status. In light of the school sites sometimes moving the pages around, I was wondering if it would be acceptable to use government sources instead on the school pages, as I don't see them being moved or going dead anytime soon. Would that be acceptable, or should I go ahead and format the same way as the other featured articles? Thanks! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 00:05, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Good luck with that!♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:26, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

I don't know if you saw, but I wanted to know if I could just use government sources instead of individual school sites, as I am not about to add government sources if they won't pass at the Featured List review. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 03:23, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

As long as they both meet WP:RS. If anything though a healthy mix is good, independent sources other than schools are a good thing,♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:56, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Blyton

Question for you: in the UK, are "town hall" and "Council Offices" used interchangeably? This mentions an "iron plaque" depicting Noddy and Big Ears, but it doesn't show it. It hints that the plaque is an official form of recognition, meaning the town would most likely have sought permission first. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:31, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, they can refer to both, although in my town the county council offices are in a newer building. I'd imagine that they have permission to use the images.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:35, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

@Crisco 1492:. Can you delete the past images in the uploads of File:Enid Blyton.jpg? I thought the one with her books was more informative. The other one was OK, but it did sort of look like she'd spent the summer in Marbella with the TOWIE lot LOL.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:53, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

A better world to live in....

With nice people like you (your edits on Nefyn & District Golf Club etc), I feel Wiki will improve. My article on the golf course was taken down from Wiki within minutes of it being created, without any discussion. Can we not change this horrible way of working, so that new editors are looked after positively, rather being whacked across the head with a golf club every time they press the Save button? I have come across only a hanful of nice Wikipedians, and you're my number one! Thanks and diolch! Wici Rhuthun 1 (talk) 10:56, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

@Wici Rhuthun 1: Sorry you've been encountering trouble. Things like golf courses and hotels have a hard time on wikipedia but in reality they're poorly covered overall and we could do with better coverage. Your work is much appreciated. You really need a couple of decent sources for golf clubs to avoid tags and deletion. Google books http://books.google.com// is always a good place to look. What article was deleted? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:09, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Dr. B.-We need to trade photos at Inger Stevens and Kieron Moore for free ones. File:1960 Inger Stevens.jpg File:Kieron Moore 1956.jpg If you have a look at the original upload for Kieron Moore, Warner included a little bio which might also be useful. Thought this would be better than you getting orphan notices about them. No, not a secret base inside a volcano, I'm afraid. But, instead, a stub submission about a village! Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for creation/Mandouli. Can you approve, disapprove, or add to it? I'm a bit dumb with how to find what to add to village articles. Good enough for mainspace? Hmm maybe the notable person needs removing, what do you reckon? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 18:55, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Looks way off being ready. The url needs formatting and it could use some decent sources and info. Charles Matthews would probably disagree... Also, why the box for one person?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:03, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

You know what, I'm not sure that person is notable anyway! I've removed them. An acolyte of yours has formatted the URL. What next? What can we add? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:26, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Friendly farewell message

Hi there, friend. I'm a great admire of you, so before I leave Misplaced Pages, I wanted to tell you about a very good movie I've recently watched. It's called Dangerous from 1935 with Franchot Tone and Bette Davis. I'm not quite sure how notable the black-and-white movie is, so don't know if you've already seen it, but in case you haven't. All the best to you in the future, friend. :) Jonas Vinther (talk) 00:09, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Farewell? Yes I've seen it, in fact I think I even saw that before The Little Foxes, Now, Voyager and The Letter. I'm a big fan of Bette Davis, arguably the best dramatic actress Hollywood has ever had.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:46, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Brick dust

Thanks. Dutch brick is a bit addictive - far more could be added. Brick-lined well is an adequate start, maybe. I am not sure how to deal with the third meaning. The right name is Stabilized earth block (SEB). There is a very US-oriented unsourced article on Compressed earth block (CEB). Usually the blocks are both compressed and stabilized to form CSEBs. One article is enough for all these blocks. Not sure if I have the interest or energy. Aymatth2 (talk) 19:38, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

@Aymatth2: As suspected the Dutch brick article is now a fine (and beautifully illustrated) article and reflects what is written in sources. I hope you don't mind but I redirected one into the brick-lined well which is in a better context. I don't think you really need the dab page so I put a hat note at the top and also redirected the dab page. Everything looks sorted now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:49, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

  • The World Bank award for the Dutch Brick machine, and the Chinese machines, are nothing to do with well-lining. They are for making ersatz bricks out of earth and concrete for building cheap houses. The meaning is much closer to Compressed earth block. I moved some content there for that reason. I will rearrange the redirects, There are three completely different meanings. Aymatth2 (talk) 23:30, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

That's better, and neater at the top now as well.. Dutch bond or Flemish bond should probably have it's own article too, it's currently a redirect. Quite important in architecture.♦ Dr. Blofeld 05:07, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

some 77,000 square feet (7,200 m2) of storage space? Are you sure? Should it not be "floor space"? The Banner talk 14:08, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

The other Le Mez

For a brief while in the late 1970s, the beloved actor J. Le Mez was eclipsed in public attention by an overweight carpet salesman of the same name. He was one of those accused with the politician Jeremy Thorpe of conspiracy to murder, in a cause célèbre that immediately preceded the arrival in power of Mrs Thatcher. A rather less appealing Le Mez, I'm bound to say. I've written up the whole tawdry tale as another in my "political scandal" series: the Thorpe affair, now at peer review. Any comments there would be welcome. Brianboulton (talk) 16:46, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Mùn Chung

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mùn Chung requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.
