The fact that they are not third party is exactly what makes them a credible source. If the show say's an actor is on recurring, why exactly do you feel you know more than them? Please fill me in as to why you get the final say as to who is on contract with The Young and the Restless and who is not??? I'd also like to point out that the show consciously went and updated Elizabeth Hendrickson's status from contract to recurring. They didn't just do that because they thought it would be a fun way to spend an afternoon. The closing credits for Y&R have always been thorough and precise (opening credits, not so much). If there is anyone that IS credible source about the The Young and the Restless, it would be THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS!!!! hahaha | |||
But you have the all-seeing power and know-how behind the show, right? Only you know things. O_o] (]) 16:01, 27 May 2014 (UTC) |

The link for Billy Miller is wrong. It links to Billy Miller the football player rather than Billy Miller the Y&R actor. 96.39.122.53 (talk) 12:17, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
"Comings and Goings" are not encyclopedic
Even though the "Comings and Goings" were one of the few portions of the article to be sourced, that doesn't mean that they are appropriate content. Misplaced Pages is not a crystal ball to be predicting/announcing events which may or may not actually occur in the future, we wait until they happen and THEN record them. Without being able to provide any context or content other than a celebrity is expected to appear the "information" becomes nothing more than an advertisement. For up-to-the minute news about future plans a reader should be going to the original source or gossip sites. -- The Red Pen of Doom 18:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Wow!
Whoever(s) did the new reconstruction on the page - it looks great! Much easier to read and more clear. Allukka (talk) 21:32, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
- I'm just seeing this now (nearly 3 months later, aha), I reconstructed this page. Glad you like the changes :) yes it is far more clear. Arre 10:59, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
Cast Member Pages
Hey guys,
Who's idea was it to change every character's bio, or whatever you want to call it? Why do we have classification? Who really gives two shits (excuse my language) if they were a former regular? People want to know why the character is no longer on the canvas, and getting rid of that is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. We should leave the cause/reason the character is no longer on the show. Colton hockey11 (talk) 04:51, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
- Colton, please watch your language as some editors are offended by swearing. It is of high relevance. It's classifying the character as "recurring" or "regular". It's good clarification to have in an info-box. Arre 10:58, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
- Arre, I did not know saying the word I did was that bad, but I will refrain from it next time. However, I still believe that we should leave on the info-box why the character is no longer on the show. Colton hockey11 (talk) 19:17, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
- Who really gives two shits – that is bad language. If you're talking about "cause/reason", that has already been agreed upon as useless and unneeded. Arre 05:07, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't understand how that is useless, because most people like to know the reason the character is no longer on the soap. Colton hockey11 (talk) 17:47, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Recurring cast
IMO, there should be refs for this section. There is always confusion over whether someone is recurring or not, so it should be sourced. I think the main cast section should be sourced, too. Arre 04:03, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- I totally agree with you. You can not have an cast list article with sources only belongning to Cast changes, it very important. Since, users are arguing wheater Christel Khalil is on recurring or contract. I believe she is on contract since she is on the opeining titles and she appears almost every episodes. SoapFan12 11:45, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Christel Khalil was confirmed to be on contract after it was reported she was departing and the role was being recast. 71.233.227.127 (talk) 17:28, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Michelle Stafford's Exit Time Frame
Soap Opera Network confirmed Michelle's exit as the week of July 29, 2013. I've included the full reference so you can add it to the cast list.
- Duly noted! Thank you! livelikemusic 22:32, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Questions about credits (contract/recurring)
I had a little question about one of the recent edits. I noticed in this week's credit roll of the that Tristan Rogers was placed in the top part of the cast list right after Greg Rikaart. I know that like other soaps, when they have their cast credits at the end of the show, they list all the contract players alphabetically and then the recurring and guests right after also alphabetically. So i saw that Tristan was moved to contract, but then someone reverted the edits saying that the credits aren't reliable. I have no problem with that, I just thought was the norm and everything. I guess a real source would be good. It's just funny, as I check out a lot of soap cast list pages on wikipedia. there was this one soap where someone found a source saying that a recurring character had now signed a contract proceeded to move that person to the Contract section. The main editor for that show reverted the edit even if sourced by saying "Good for him, but at present, his name shows up in the recurring section of the credits." I'm just curious what is up with that? Is it different strokes for different folks? Just curious184.160.203.195 (talk) 20:05, 18 February 2014 (UTC)samusek2
- The credits are the most reliable source. Unfortunately on Misplaced Pages who are somewhat in denial about that. Kogsquinge (talk) 00:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
- Here is an article from 2012 about Julia Pace Mitchell that clearly states credits are indicative of an actor's status: http://cbs.soapsindepth.com/2012/09/yrs-mitchell-drops-to-recurring.html. Kogsquinge (talk) 12:04, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
- It's been disputed in the past on the main Wiki project page that the end list credits are unreliable, due to inconsistencies found in them. Sometimes cast members can be listed wrong, or long after their roles have completed. And, for the most part, opening credits are as well unreliable. But most series keep their credits up to date with the current contract cast members. And that link does not prove that Mitchell stated that credits are "indicative" of an actor's status; she merely confirmed that she was put on recurring. There is a difference. livelikemusic 03:21, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
The ending credits are actually the most reliable when it comes to Y&R. They are updated quickly and precisely. It's actually this page that constantly has errors because people say that the credits aren't a valid source but, they are. The show knows who their contract cast members are and aren't. Random people who sit at home and edit the show's fan-made wikipedia page, do not. That's just ego.216.13.187.114 (talk) 03:16, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Linsey Godfrey and Jacob Young
Godfrey and Young were on Y&R for a short stint, which ended on April 16, according to http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/bb-stars-crossing-over-yr. They are not on recurring status with the show. Kogsquinge (talk) 00:49, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
That's because they were never on recurring status with the show.Cebr1979 (talk) 00:01, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
Cady McClain & Elizabeth Hendrickson
As of today (May 13, 2014), Cady McClain is still listed in the show's closing credits as part of the recurring cast yet, she is being listed here as being on contract? Also, Elizabeth Hendrickson is currently on recurring with the show (also as seen in the closing credits) yet, she has been removed all-together even though her time on the show is not up?Cebr1979 (talk) 00:03, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
As of today (May 19, 2014), she is also still listed as recurring. The show knows who they've given a contract to and who they haven't. She's been on the show over a month now. She may sign a contract in the future but, she clearly hasn't done it yet.216.13.187.114 (talk) 03:21, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
- Show credits cannot be considered a reliable source since they are not third-party. And Cebr, it's recommended you edit in your user account, instead of your IP. livelikemusic 02:53, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
