The new version of Geoguessr give points between 0 and 5000. The old version is still available as "retro version". There are also special versions of the game for specific countries/regions/events.

Beside locations photographed by Google Street View cameras there are other posible locations: those taken from geolocated spherical pictures incorporated to google maps from google map views (https://www.google.com/maps/views/home) or stored in google plus profiles.

I missed your comment earlier. These are not just "some articles". If you do a Google News search, you'll see that this was covered in multiple countries by major news organizations. Coverage continued for several months. IronGargoyle (talk) 00:35, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
