Question

You closed a request I made at the AN board. The issue seemed to be the timing of the appeal. What is the appropriate time period to wait before raising such an appeal? Useitorloseit (talk) 21:37, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

It was not a only a timing issue. Afaik there is no distinct waiting period for topic bans instated by the community to be appealed, but you raised this appeal right after you had been banned without giving any valid reasons to lift the ban (N.B.: bans enacted by the Arbitration Committee can only be appealed after a period of one year). It has also been explained to you that there wouldn't be any difference whether you voluntarily refrained from editing certain topics or were banned from editing them. So unless there were any formal shortcomings or otherwise deficient decisions in the discussion that resulted in your ban, there's nothing you could do right now. I suggest you make another appeal after some three months and try to convince the community that your edits in that area of interest won't be problematic any more. Just saw your edit summary; I'm sorry. I got into an edit conflict, and the diff was puzzling — it didn't show any comments by anyone else, so I figured that I'd gotten it because (like happens sometimes when editing my sandbox) I'd hit "enter" twice. I'm a little confused by the goings on. You deleted the user page and talk page didn't you? Then it was recreated. I did a G3 speedy delete request, but the page still exists. Regardless we can't have a page with that title even it's empty, right? --RacerX Talk to me 18:52, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

I deleted it just to make room for a block notice. The user account of that name exists anyway and so it will be found by search engines, too. Therefore I'd say having the associated talk page doesn't matter much. It also shows that Misplaced Pages took care of the situation by blocking the account. Ok, I sincerely trust you know better than I do of such matters. It seems to me the title is, in and of itself, a WP:BLP violation. When you delete files as F8, you may only delete those revisions of the file which have been moved to Commons, see WP:CSD#F8. In this case, you deleted both the high-resolution image and the low-resolution image, but only the low-resolution image was moved to Commons, and the high-resolution image contains data not on Commons. The easiest way to move old revisions of files to Commons is to use toollabs:magog/oldver.php. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:32, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

Problem editor returns

An editor you blocked for edit warring last year (his talk page User talk:190.162.52.196) has returned under a different IP, making the same edits to the same articles. He was blocked twice in total although his old blocks have expired. Is he breaking a sockpuppetry rule or do I revert his edits and risk getting into another edit war with him? He was also abusive. This edit specifically removes the fact being sourced in the reference I put in the last time he edit-warred over this exact same point. Pure troublemaking, surely? Bretonbanquet (talk) 12:31, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry but for Jeremy Spencer you need to discuss the matter at the article's talk page before any administrative sanctions can be issued. The various blocks have long since worn off, so there is no block evasion. If the IP reverts you, please report them at the edit warring notice board explaining the long-term behaviour; I might not be around in time to handle this myself. I don't have time to go to AN3 right now but he's reverted sourced fact here after I asked him to discuss (the one you specifically mentioned when you spoke to him) and here after I asked him to discuss . He's also edit warred removing sourced info here , and also blatant edit warring with other editors here , and here . He will clearly never stop edit warring. I might get a chance to report him at AN3 later but if you get the chance first, you might want to do something yourself. Bretonbanquet (talk) 11:35, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
