Leicester C. Hemingway, born April 1, 1915 in Oak Park, Illinois. He is the younger brother to legendary writer, Ernest Hemingway. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was also a writer, but was often unfairly compared to his famous older brother. He wrote six books, among them was a novel entitled, The Sound of the Trumpet published in 1953, which was based on Leicester's experiences in France and Germany during World War II. The book received praise by critics, but many seemed to think that Leicester was simply living in the shadow of his older brother. In 1961, Leicester published 'My Brother, Ernest Hemingway, a biographical depicition of his brother, which was very well received, and brought Leicester some much deserved fame and recognition for his writing abilities. He commited suicide in 1982.
