When Bubba Skinner tries to rescue a young woman from a rapist, she mistakes him for the rapist. The local district attorney decides to use this attack to further his political ambitions. Meanwhile, Virgil Tibbs tells Bubba that he believes he's innocent, and vows to work to clear Bubba's name. They prove Skinner's innocence.
