Charmed is an American supernatural drama television series, which was created by Constance M. Burge. In the United States, the first episode originally aired on October 7, 1998; the series finished its eight-year run on May 21, 2006, with 178 episodes. Charmed originally aired on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm on The WB Television Network, before moving to Thursdays for its second, third and fourth seasons. At the beginning of the fifth season, the series changed timeslots for a third and final time; it moved to Sundays at 8:00 pm and remained there until its final season.
The first episode, "Something Wicca This Way Comes", was watched by 7.7 million viewers and became the highest-rated debut episode for The WB at the time. During its fifth season, Charmed became the highest-rated Sunday night program in network history. The series finale, "Forever Charmed", ended with a season high of 4.5 million viewers, after becoming the second-longest drama broadcast by The WB. In January 2006, Charmed was declared the longest running hour-long television series featuring all female leads.
