Michael Lenson

Dear RHaworth, I would like to ask you to reconsider your deletion of my recent post about my father, the American artist Michael Lenson. I thank you in advance for your consideration of my request. There was no copyright infraction in the post, which contained some of the same material that I have also included on http://michaellenson.org, a website that I also own and manage. The material on that website is not copyrighted. So no copyright infraction could have been involved. Furthermore, there is a logical flaw in thinking that if biographical material about one individual is repeated in different locations on the Internet, that some kind of infraction has occurred. If two websites mention that Thomas Jefferson lived in Virginia, for example, it doesn't follow that one of them must have copied that fact from another website; that fact is simply part of Jefferson's biography, not someone's property. There are certain verifiable facts about my father's life, and they appear in many places - in catalogues of exhibitions, in reference books, on websites. Those facts do not belong to anyone.

Again, I hope you will reconsider. I also wish that you had communicated your concerns about the post and not immediately deleted it. But what's done is done, and I hope that you might help me get a listing in place for my father. Thank you, and best regards, Barry Lenson — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:C:5080:107:7D1B:CAFF:D69A:374C (talk) 18:38, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Message double-posted, no link to article, unsigned and from an IP address. Consider yourself very lucky that I am bothering to reply. It was not just the copyvio aspect that caused me to tag Michael Lenson for deletion - I did not delete it. It was the utter slovenliness of the submission. I gave my reasons here but forgot to mention the worst fault: total lack of independent evidence. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:44, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

File:Meralco Bolts Logo.jpg

Could you tell under which speedy deletion criterion this was deleted? The log message says F1, but F1 does not cover files in other file formats. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:14, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Rak-Tai's WP:AOHA

Hi there RHaworth, I'll try to keep this short and compact but it is actually a long story going way back when I had my first encounter with User:Rak-Tai, a POV-pushing COI-editor, when they reverted this section as part of their censoring spree on the Pattaya article. Unlike their name might suggest, they are not Thai but American. I was instrumental in having one of their blatant COI articles deleted and I was also one of the editors who cleaned up their POV and COI edits. I can actually prove with a few diffs that they have lied to other editors here on WP during another AfD about their involvement with the article's subject but then I would also be outing them. Since then they have started smearing me, accusing me of harassment. Rak-Tai has been posting ongoing, unproven personal attacks against me for some years now on his user page, which I remove per WP:RPA when I see them. They state that they are not editing here any longer either but once in a while they come back to repost their accusations. It escalated yesterday evening where they immediately reverted every my removals of their attacks. Per WP recommendations, I posted "npa" warnings every time they did this which resulted in 8 npa warnings. Admin Drmies then became involved and threatened me with a block without knowing anything of the background. I tried to explain the situation to Drmies today but apparently their mind was set, resulting in me having to defend myself at every step of the way. All Drmies had to do was blank the user's talk page as it contains personal attacks but Drmies refuses, using a very dubious rationale that "it is balanced" as it now stands. Apparently, for Drmies, Rak Tai's lies are balanced by my 8 npa warnings? The quickest way to see that Rak-Tai was pushing POV to the extreme here on WP is to look at these two sections in Nick's talkpage archive (1, and 2) where I provide diffs showing Rak Tai's behaviour. All I am asking for is that the talk page of Rak Tai is blanked. I can't remove the accusations there because, as I mentioned here above, Drmies threatened to block me if I did, apparently accepting that it's okay for Rak Tai to post their accusations on their talk page without ever having to prove them. It is a minute issue but Rak-Tai has been harassing me for quite a long time now and it is grating that his attacks are allowed to stand without me given the possibility to defend myself or have these attacks removed. I hope that someone will also finally give Rak-Tai an official warning to stop posting their accusations. Regards, - Takeaway (talk) 22:47, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Suddenly, just now Drmies did blank Rak-Tai's talk page, unfortunately feeling the need to use their standard belittling word in the edit summary, in spite of their complete refusal to do so just 1 hour ago. Unfortunately, another problem editor, Wikicology, has involved themselves by posting there. It would be very nice to see this latest post removed per WP:TALKNO as they have nothing to do with this whole issue, they do not give any new insight in this problem whatsoever, and are only there with that specific message to annoy me. - Takeaway (talk) 22:59, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
RHaworth, if I were anything like Takeaway I'd accuse them of calling me insane, and I'd spend a million words proving it over the next five years (apparently this goes back to 2009). Holy moly, perhaps WP:NOTHERE applies here--feel free to have a look at what they posted on my talk page. And yes, I blanked that talk page since Takeaway here threatened to blank it two days from now; I thought I'd prevent another shit storm. And people wonder why editors quit. (Takeaway, go ahead and report this at ANI.) Drmies (talk) 23:16, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
Drmies, why should I be bothered to bring up this glitch of yours at ANI? It was already a complete waste of time that it took me half a day to finally get it through to you that personal attacks should not be left to stand on a page. If only you would have done it sooner, and without feeling the need to use belittling wordings in the edit summary, but apparently you just couldn't bring yourself to do what plainly had to be done without resorting to "silly" things like sneering. It doesn't become an administrator and one wonders with administrators such as Drmies, why editors like me have still not quit. I wish you interesting administrating! - Takeaway (talk) 23:43, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Takeaway, I strongly incline to consider it as Personal attack for referring to me as a problematic editor! I have no idea of how it appeared sensible to you for issuing about 8 npa warning to a fellow editor. I found it very unnecessary. I wish it never happened! All editors have their opinions. You are not expected to impose your opinion on other editors (even thou you are right), a behavior I considered disruptive. I expected you to discuss the issue with other editors. You may need to ask yourself Why you are just reporting the case here now? Why not report before you issued your 8 unnecessary npa warning? Its a common thing here on wikipedia to have a problem with an editor and if you are harassed or attacked by any editor (based on your claim), you know the right channel to report the case. Drmies is right for blanking the talk page, a decision I acknowledged. Wikicology (talk) 12:17, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Wikicology. That phrase was stuck in my head since the ANI on your behaviour. I will rephrase it: "Wikicology, another editor who has a problem with me". Please research things before jumping in. I have explained all this before. I did report it. Nothing happened. Rak-Tai, despite warnings, kept reverting. After 3 years of harassment I grew sick of it. He was already warned 1 1/2 years ago by another admin to stop doing. Read all about it for yourself in the links I provided above to Nick's page. I do not need to repeat all that again. And FYI: in all these years only run-ins with 3 or 4 editors: Rak-Tai's was the only major clash. - Takeaway (talk)

And yes, stubborn Rak-Tai has just reposted his personal attack yet again, stating "my page" in the edit summary, and also mistaking Drmies' obliquely phrased remark to stop posting personal attacks, and apparently also Wikicology's unwarranted input, as encouragement to continue doing so as shown here. It's a pity that when Drmies blanked the talkpage, they also blanked their initial admonishment to Rak-Tai to stop posting personal attacks on their user page. - Takeaway (talk) 13:53, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Phew... The issue with Rak-Tai has finally been taken care of (see User talk:Floquenbeam#Thank you) and hopefully this will finally end Rak-Tai's personal attacks after all these years. Floquenbeam has blanked their user page and added an official warning to their talk page, and Drmies has now also added a stronger message to their talk page. - Takeaway (talk) 16:59, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Yawn... Takeaway (talk) 18:36, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

No you didn't. I don't know any admins, never had any need to all these years on WP. And ANI seemed way too much for something like this. For some reason I remembered your name and that you were an admin. I just had nowhere else to turn to, to have this issue resolved as Drmies threatened to block me if I removed the personal attack but flat-out refused to remove it for me. And this wouldn't have turned into a discussion if Drmies and Wikicology hadn't followed me here. - Takeaway (talk) 22:35, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Section 4 (NYSPHSAA)

The aforementioned article received a speedy deletion from you. Two editors, myself and Prisencolinensinainciusol are prepared to pay attention to the article to bring it up to standards. I was called in because I have written and supported many similar articles - -I must say I have never seen the one you deleted and it was gone so quickly after the notice that neither of us could do anything about it. I could easily recreate a better article in keeping with the other similar section articles, but because you speedy deleted it, there is a red stain that will draw some other admin to quickly and blindly delete it. So please undelete the article. Let both of us know and will create an article that will not need to go to AfD. Trackinfo (talk) 09:33, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Asin lanja

Yo yo yo. I just had my first run-in with Asin lanja today. I notice that you administered their last block. This edit of theirs first caught my eye, where they introduce an image randomly into the article. The file name is gibberish, the caption is gibberish, and even the description at Commons is gibberish. No indication of how/why/if this photo should be in the Drishyam article. Here is another image placed at the top of the article--a probable copyright violation. And the end result of these four edits appears to be deliberate formatting errors. Not sure if the user is a vandal or if they are completely incompetent, but they seem to just be mashing keys and disrupting articles in the process. Anyhow, heads-up! I gave them a final warning for vandalism because I noticed they'd been contacted about disruptive editing before. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:59, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Move Page

Can you please move Lil Chuckee (musician) to Lil Chuckee. Since there's no other Lil Chuckee. The subject now is notable, that meets MUSICBIO. — Karlhard (talk) 00:35, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I am just trying to help. Karlhard (talk) 18:31, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

I did see the article before it was deleted. I think Karlhard is being broad with the terms "hit" and "national chart"; WP:MUSICBIO#C2 states that an artist is notable if it has had a hit on a national chart. I doubt he'll have another hit again as he has left Young Money Entertainment, therefore I recommend restoring and sending back to AfD per WP:Using deletion as cleanup.--Launchballer 15:48, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Sorry if I may be wrong, but it does meet notability. You can't say that he won't get another hit because Misplaced Pages is not a crystal ball. By now, the subject meets WP:MUSICBIO. Karlhard (talk) 18:31, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

  • I was going to reply on your talk page until I saw the ridiculous size of it. It is nearly six times bigger than my maximum size for this page. You have archive links at the top which suggest monthly archiving, so why have you got stuff dating back to 2011? I recommend an archive search box as at the top of this page. OK, disk space seems to be cheap and infinitely expandable but spare a thought for people with portable devices. You were asked: "it's very hard work reading it on a small screen. (Have you tried?)". PamD and I are still waiting for your reply. I tried doing an whole page edit of it on my Android tablet and it crashed the browser. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:15, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

I wanna know which items should be posted

Hi, My wiki page was deleted for maintains as it for my personal use.I wanna know what type of post can we do on wiki and what are not. I am eager to know who can delete my wiki without my permissions and who can not. Can i retrieve my data back that was deleted by third party like you and others. The data that was in wiki is important to me i wanna it back. Can you please help in clarifying the above quires — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noorulla123 (talkcontribs) 09:15, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

  • "Maintains as it for my personal use" is a classic reason for deletion of user pages. Any Misplaced Pages janitor can and will delete such stuff. Misplaced Pages is not a free host. Everything done on Misplaced Pages must be directed towards building this encyclopedia. You may certainly have your text back for use elsewhere - read this. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 09:38, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

straightline.in

Dear RHaworth, I uploaded an article on straightline.in on Misplaced Pages a few days back. Being a happy customer of the website, I thought I should write on it (as there were no pages on the same). I do not have any connection with their website whatsoever and was taken aback when my article was labelled as promotional. Would you be kind enough to help me understand, what seemed promotional so that I can rectify it and get the page uploaded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Souvikchelsea1 (talkcontribs) 17:46, 11 October 2014 (UTC)

Synoeca septentrionalis

Hi, I am working on a class project in behavioral ecology on wasp species at Washington University in St. Louis. I am considering working on a page for synoeca septentrionalis for the project. Would it be possible for me to have access to the recently deleted page please? Thank you. Alison Gozlan (talk) 00:00, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Could you please preview your edits before you save them? Many of us view diffs one at a time. You can do that by clicking "Show preview" (next to "Save page") or by pressing shift+p (if using Chrome, alt+shift+p).--Launchballer 09:07, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Launchballer, waspish comments like that are unwanted - you are nit picking and newbie biting. Unlike a lot of the messages that get posted here, Alison's was completely satisfactory. It simply does not matter that it took four edits to get there. Learn to use diff reports properly.
Alison, I find it amusing that you contact me when you could probably be talking face-to-face with the author. The entire content of the deleted page is incorporated in User:RJPet/sandbox. Fight it out between you as to who is going to create the article. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:28, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

File:Cantwell.jpg

Dear RHaworth, You recently deleted a file that I uploaded (File:Cantwell.jpg). I have the photo from Facebook and I have the permission both from the guy depicted as well as from the guy who took the photo. What can I do? Greetings, ElNuevoEinstein (talk) 17:51, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

As a user of Facebook, I'm pretty sure it is a term and/or condition (I don't know the difference) of Facebook that any photo uploaded to there becomes their property. -- Launchballer 19:31, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
That's highly unlikely. Evidence please? -- Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:40, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Launchballer, like Demiurge, I am very sceptical of your claim. The problem with Facebook is that there is no provision for put licence details on photos there so we are forced to assume that all images are "© all rights reserved" but that is © the photographer, not Facebook.
Einstein 2, please read this. Make sure that the photographer is willing to release the photograph under {{cc-by-sa-4.0}} then upload the image to the Commons and provide evidence of permission as explained here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:28, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

Is this article to be allowed to live?

I have accidentally marked this page To Live (2010 film) as patrolled while tagging it as unsourced by using Twinkle. Can you check it whether it is suitable to be included in Misplaced Pages. Thanks, Owais khursheed (talk) 01:35, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Oh what a terrible sin - spuriously marking a page as patrolled! I'm joking - it is no sin at all. In any case tagging it as unsourced could be considered sufficient by way of patrolling - you have looked and assessed that at least it is not vandalism. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:39, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Quantum Technology Sciences Inc.

Hello, I am asking for the page draft:Quantum Technology Sciences Inc. to be re-published so that I can edit out the material that caused the copy infringement deletion. I have an ample amount of content to replace the content in violation. Thank you so much for your consideration in the re-creation of this page. — Sarah 3825 (talk) 15:16, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Before you do anything else here, learn the basics of wiki markup like wikilinks and section headers. Also take to heart Launchballer's advice above - did it really need 79 edits to create a 6kbyte article. The article fell outside Misplaced Pages's acceptance perimeter. Text emailed. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:39, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

Please help delete duplicated articles

Dear RHaworth. I need your help to delete these 2 articles: Duplicate and wrong article name (please delete for me): Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School. Wrong article name and article (please delete for me): Bangkok Preparatory International School. This is the correct article for the school: Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep). I really appreciate your help. Thank you. Supriyasrikuruwal (talk) 01:53, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Dear RHaworth, thank you for explaining. Can you please delete Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep) - it looks really bad when anyone searches on google and it says "this article is going through speedy deletion." And can you change title of the Bangkok Prep article to be the full name of the school "Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School" Thank you once again. Supriyasrikuruwal (talk) 14:44, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Can't you see that Bangkok International Preparatory and Secondary School (Bangkok Prep) is a red link? It is already deleted - I cannot make it more deleted. Google is very quick to learn new Misplaced Pages pages but very much slower to forget deleted ones. The red link returns an unambiguous HTTP status of "404 Not Found" so Google will forget about it eventually. If you want it forgotten sooner, ask Google!
I think Bangkok Prep is a good title but if you prefer the longer title, move the article yourself. Make sure you move it - do not copy&paste. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:08, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Learning to edit Wiki w/ Images

Hello RHaworth,

I am very new to editing wiki and you look like you have a lot of experience. Yesterday was the first time I had every tried to upload any images to Misplaced Pages and I went through the process of trying to learn how to get an image that is fair use. I added a picture of the Libertarian candidate to the Florida gubernatorial_election,_2014 race page and I saw you removed the file because it violated the fair use policy. I was hoping you could help me understand what kind of a violation this is and what kind of picture would qualify in an instance like this. I got the picture from the media page of the campaign website for Adian Wyllie ( http://wyllieforgovernor.com/contact-us/media-inquiries/) which seemed to me like it was purposed for distribution similar to use in a wiki article. But perhaps I'm mistaken and would love some guidance. I emailed the web designer to ask if this picture was allowed to be used for this article as "fair use" and am waiting to hear back. Thanks, Mfermier — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfermier (talkcontribs) 14:36, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

I am not RHaworth, but on Thursdays I am here feeding his pet polar bears. I think you should try emailing the webmaster with some of the details from Misplaced Pages:Declaration of consent for all enquiries instead. The webmaster (or any other copyright owner) are, by definition, not able to grant permission for "fair use".
If you do wish to use an image of Wyllie under "fair use", you would have to wait for them to die first, and also ensure that no properly free images of them were produced in the meantime. I presume you do not wish to wait that long. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:23, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Not-RHaworth-the-Polar-Bear-Feeder: Thanks for the enlightening info. That makes more sense. I emailed the copyright holder and got emailed permission to upload the file to Misplaced Pages and I forwarded this corrispondance to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and am awaiting response. I'm hoping this is the proper method then to upload a photo. Although I could again me mistaken, but I'm trying to learn how to do this right. Thanks again for helping me learn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfermier (talkcontribs) 14:47, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

  • No! Did you actually read my message? If the copyright holder releases the image under a Creative Commons licence, then you should be uploading to the Commons. The whole point of fair use is that you do not need permission. But fair use is not allowed for living people. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:44, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Article concerning 3.2.1

http://speedydeletion.wikia.com/3.2.1 Makes no sense for 3.2.1 to be deleted, they are the first Thai group to reach 100,000,000 views on Youtube, so they are definitely relevant, they are on a good amount of news articles that outline their success and has all of their trivia, so their information can be properly sourced and sited (matter of fact, they have wikis in other languages). If Berryz Koubou and Da Mouth can have a Misplaced Pages page, 3.2.1 definitely deserves a Misplaced Pages page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gale-ic (talkcontribs) 12:20, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

From Da Darkness Of Da Kut (as Lil Fly)

Hello, I recently noticed the article From Da Darkness Of Da Kut (as Lil Fly) was deleted. Lil Fly indeed is Playa Fly hence why it was link to Playa Fly. As an avid Memphis rap fan, I attest that this page was 100% credible. Although there is not much information regarding the album, it was released in the early nineties via DJ Paul KOM (of Three 6 Mafia). I recreated this page to keep underground music alive, so everyone who is a Memphis rap fan, and Three 6 Mafia.

I hope you will understand and allow this page to stay if it is recreated. Thank you very much and have a great day.
