In the British Army during World War I, the Territorial cavalry regiments were designated Yeomanry (for example, 'The 1/1st Warwickshire Yeomanry Regiment') though as the war progressed many regiments fought as dismounted infantry. Many of these regiments retained their "yeomanry" designations after the war, and through modern times.
