Kwon Yuri is a member of South Korean girl group, Girls' Generation. She joined the S.M. Entertainment Casting System when she competed in the 2001 SM Youth Best Dancer Contest where she finished in 2nd place.

Solo activities and songwriting

Over the years, Yuri has released two solo songs, "Bling Star" and "Twinkle Twinkle", for her own movie No Breathing. She also had two duets. One is "Must!", with fellow Girls' Generation member Sooyoung, for the SBS's drama Working Mom, and the other is "Like A Soap" with TVXQ, featured in their sixth Korean studio album, Catch Me.

Besides singing, Yuri has also contributed to songwriting. In Girls' Generation's third Korean mini album, Hoot, Yuri wrote the lyrics for the song "Mistake". She then collaborated with fellow Girls' Generation member Sooyoung for the song "Baby Maybe", and Seohyun, for the song "XYZ", featured in the group's fourth studio album I Got a Boy.

Acting career

Yuri made her acting debut in the KBS2 sitcom Unstoppable Marriage alongside Sooyoung where they played two high school students who were recurring characters on the show.

In 2012, Yuri played the female lead role Choi Anna in SBS's television drama Fashion King. This 20-episode drama was aired on SBS from March 19, 2012 to May 22, 2012. On December 31, 2012, Yuri received the New Star Award at the 2012 SBS Drama Awards and on May 9, 2013, she won the Most Popular Television Actress award at the 49th PaekSang Arts Awards for her role.

In 2013, Yuri was cast as the female lead in South Korea's first swimming-themed film, No Breathing. In the coming-of-age film, Yuri portrayed the role of Jung-eun, a girl who dreams of becoming a musician who is also the love interest of the two male leads played by Lee Jong-suk and Seo In-guk. Aside from learning how to play the guitar for her character, Yuri also sang two songs for the film's soundtrack, "Bling Star" and "Twinkle Twinkle" which she performed in the film. She won the "Most Popular Film Actress" award at the 50th Paeksang Arts Awards on May 27, 2014.

Hosting career

In 2009, Yuri, along with fellow Girls' Generation member Tiffany, became an MC for the MBC's music show Show! Music Core. They left the show in July 2010 to focus on Girls’ Generation's debut in Japan, but came back in October 2011. Yuri, however, left the show again in January 2012 to focus on her drama debut Fashion King.

Yuri has co-hosted the Incheon Korean Music Wave with Tiffany for four years, in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013. She has also co-hosted other events such as the 2010 MBC Gayo Daejeon Show, the 20th Seoul Music Awards, the 50th Anniversary Music Wave Concert, the K-Pop All Star Live in Niigata, the K-POP Music Festival in Sydney, the 2014 Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, and most recently, the 2014 Korean Music Wave in Beijing.

Variety show appearances

She had a small role in a television segment, The King's Boyfriend, which was part of the 2005–2006 KMTV Super Junior documentary, Super Junior Show.

In 2008, Yuri became a part of the second season of KBS2's celebrity dating reality show, Kko Kko Tours Single♥Single, which her fellow member, Tiffany, was a part of during its first season. The show's second season premiered on November 2.

At the end of 2009, she became a main cast in the KBS2 reality show Invincible Youth with fellow member, Sunny. Because of Girls' Generation's international promotions, Yuri left the show along with Sunny and Hyuna of 4Minute in June 2010.

On June 17, 2013, it was revealed that Yuri together with Hyoyeon and others would appear on Dancing 9, Mnet's global dance survival show. The two Girls' Generation members coached the show's contestants as "K-pop dance masters" alongside other notable stars.
