To add to the good advice above, please reconsider your decision to quit Misplaced Pages. As Deckiller says, you have made some very good contributions. We'd hate to loose you. People are opposing your RfA because we haven't seen enough of your work to know if you'd be a good admin. Being an administrator is not the be all and end all of being on Misplaced Pages. You can do most of the useful work here, both contributing to articles and fighting vandalism, without having the admin bit.
No one here hates you, we just cannot judge you on a handful of edits. The comment by Ambuj Saxena does not doom a future RfA, as Sarah Ewart points out plenty of people fail at the first attempt and later become admins. Please reconsider. ] 05:37, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Welcome!
Hello, Deon, and welcome to Misplaced Pages! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Misplaced Pages
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Misplaced Pages:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!
Here is my reply to the question you asked on the Misplaced Pages:Help desk: Just add {{attention}} to the top of the page. Though not a big red box, but a big blue one. If you believe the content is false and not represents a NPOV, {{TotallyDisputed}} might be appropriate. There are also other templates, see the See also section of this page. Vandal Fighting
FYI, pages that should obviously be deleted can be reported directly to admins if they meet the criteria here. Simply place the text {{db|insert reason to delete page}} on the top of the page to delete, substituting in the reason to delete. An administrator will come by in a few minutes and, if it meets the criteria, delete the page. Other info is available at WP:VAND. If you have any other questions, ask me! Happy editing! VandalProof Registration
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof; however, I'm afraid I can't add you to the approved list at this time. You have only three edits in mainspace and only seventeen edits in all namespaces, which does not demonstrate that you have enough experience with Misplaced Pages to be trusted with this tool. You have to understand that VandalProof can be potentially very harmful when used incorrectly, either intentionally or unintentionally, and as such, all users must have sufficient knowledge of Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, as well as substantial experience in dealing with vandalism. If you would like to resubmit your name in another couple of weeks, once you have had more experience using Misplaced Pages, I would be more than happy to reconsider. Thanks. helpme
I've removed the {{helpme}} for now, add your question and the tag to your talk page with the question. I'll answer it. -- ∞Dbroadwell 02:42, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, as you can see, i am an NP and RC Patroller, and was trying to add the godmode-light script here yesterday, to try to get the rollback feature, but it just wont work.. Do you know how to make it work? I've got Lupin's tools, and Popups also, and i tried to add the godmode light script, and the whole lot just broke. :( --Deon555 02:45, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sadly I'm not able to support those, I don't use them. I'll try passing the question on to #wikipedia-bootcamp on freenode. -- ∞Dbroadwell 02:51, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome, Thanks. --Deon555 02:54, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Suggestions (added as recieved); GML_Fix and the VoA script includes lupin's stuff, so he should only have the VoA thing, remove the other stuff and the clear their cache once they make the change: Mozilla/Safari/Konqueror: hold down Shift while clicking Reload (or press Ctrl-Shift-R), IE: press Ctrl-F5, Opera: press F5. From Command_Keane.
- Alrighty, well I cleared the whole monobook.js page, and started again. I've taken Lupin's out. Left VoA's in, put the godmode-light.js script in, edited the 1 to a 2, from the GMLfix.. Now i'll go look for some vandalism :P and let you know how i go, Thanks everyone for your help. --Deon555 03:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Popup Probs
- Please use {{helpme}} on your talk page rather than your userpage. Also, I don't see a question.--Commander Keane 05:41, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I am having troubles with Popups, each time i hover over a link, a prompt saying 'Notifcation Popups error: op or cl is null! something is wrong'. --Deon555 05:45, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
It's difficult to diagnose, and this question may be too specialised for a {helpme} editor to answer. I would try removing everything except popups from your monobook.js, clearing your cache and then seeing if it works. If it does work then that means that there is something wrong with the other stuff. Please try the Help desk if this doesn't work.
You could also try removing everything and just placing:
//Admin-like RC Patrol tools
document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="' + 'http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User:VoA/monobook.js' + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');
//
This code includes rollback, popups and lupins vandal filter. Remember to clear your cache when you change your monobook.js. Also keep in mind that rollback doesn't appear on every page. To test to see if you have the rollback button, look at this page.--Commander Keane 05:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
Policy Patrol
Heya, nice to see you volunteering for all kinds of maintenance work. For policy patrol, you need to know your way around guidelines, essays, policies and soforth, and understand the relationships between them. And especially you need to understand that they are mutable by consensus, and how that mechanism works.
Hmmm, I've checked your edit history and haven't found evidence of this kind of knowlege there yet, so far. Of course, feel free to talk with me and prove me wrong as often as you like, at any time, now or in future! Kim Bruning 13:44, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Your reversion of my addition to BJAODN
Why did you remove the content that I submitted? It did come from the page User talk:BabySnugz, though he had changed the page since I submitted it. I didn't make it up, if that's what you thought.--Conrad Devonshire 00:01, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Melbourne Meetups
I've only attended one meetup - Misplaced Pages:Meetup/Melbourne 2. You can check the pictures to see who fronted up. I don't think any were under 18. As far as I know there is no age limit. Why not come to the next one and have a chat to some of the other members. Cheers - Cuddy Wifter 23:49, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Helpme2
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to move the non-admin rollback button, on godmodelite, from Lupin's filter page to the diff page.. :|
Thx! :) --Deon555|talk 03:15, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- ill ask again later :| :( --Deon555|talk 03:52, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Administrator's Userbox
Hi,
I saw that you had put {{User wikipedia/Administrator}} on your userpage. I have removed it. Please note that adding such a userbox may confuse other editors. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:30, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Sorry
I'm very sorry Deon. Not sure how that happened but I assure you it wasn't intentional. Thanks for pointing it out to me. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 04:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Deon, please consider withdrawing your RfA. You can resubmit it when you have more experience and are more known in the community. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 05:04, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- No, no, people are forgiving. Lots of current administrators had unsuccessful RfAs. Some had multiple tries before they finally got there. The problem is you don't have many edits so people don't know you. You just need to take that on board, stick with it and try again down the track when people know you better. The admin tag thing can easily be written off as a newbie-ish mistake if you decide to stay and make a good contribution. By the way, are you Australian? I just noticed Cuddy Wifter's comment above about Melbourne meet-ups. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 05:18, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Hates you? No, don't think "everyone" does
Per your recent userbox addition: I don't think everybody hates you. I don't hate you (though I admittedly don't know you very well), and I'm part of "everyone" so "everyone" doesn't hate you. =) I suspect you're a little upset about your RfA. I wouldn't call your rejection "hate". You're just a little underexperienced. Life is too short to hate. Just keep editing and things will work out. -- Gogo Dodo 05:22, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, Actually nobody hates you. I had to oppose as I found you inexperienced for adminship. If you keep up the good work, and don't "mess around" :), your RfA will succeed if you re-apply in 3 months. -- mean old Abjuj (or watevr) 05:32, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
