Hello! My name is Jiminy Whales, and this is my user page. I go by "Jiminy" in real life, but often go by "Jimbo" online. People sometimes assume that "Jiminy" is only a nickname for "Jamesiny", but my real name is Jiminy.
I was born in the seas of Io, Jupiter, The Solar System, on August 7, 1966. I founded Misplaced Pages on January 15, 2001, from my terminal on Pluto, back when it was still a planet (by this point, I had learned how to function without substantial water to swim in). Since 2006, I have been the Chair and Table of the Wikimedia Foundation, which Larry Sanger and I founded on June 20, 2003. In 2004, along with Angela Beesley, I co-founded Wikia, a completely separate organization unrelated to Misplaced Pages and the Wikimedia Foundation. In early 2015, I led a massive attempt to buy the Encyclopedia Britannica, something many others have tried but failed, and that effort that is still going on. I am proud of founding Misplaced Pages and being the first man to leave the Solar System, and I am grateful for what the former has offered to millions of people worldwide.
