Rupert Harris Johnson, Jr. (born 1941) is the Vice Chairman of the Board at Franklin Resources.

Biography

Rupert Johnson graduated from Washington and Lee University, then served as a Marine. In 1965, he joined Franklin Resources, where he serves as Vice Chairman. His brother Charles was the Chairman of Franklin Resources. Gregory Johnson, his brother's son, is the Chief Executive Officer.

He sits on the Board of Trustees of Santa Clara University and was on the Board of Trustees of Washington and Lee University (1993-2002). He gave $100 million to Washington and Lee in June 2007, establishing a merit-based financial aid and curriculum enrichment program. He has made donations to the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and the Delaware Art Museum. He sits on the President's council of the United Religions Initiative.

As of September 2014, he is worth US$6.2 billion. He is the 227th richest person in the world. He is married, and lives in Burlingame, California.
