"The word has a long and varied history." I took this out, but would be happy to see it re-inserted if someone can supply some evidence for it. It seems to me that Asia ia a European concept and that pan-asianism was very much influenced by german romantic thinking - an element I intend to work into the article. Like Pan-Africanism, although this can be traced back to the late eighteenth century amongst Africans of the diaspora, it became fomalised as Pan-Africanism precisely by people influenced by German historiography.
