Koryn auditioned for the eighth season of The Voice singing Emeli Sandé's "My Kind of Love". Both Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams turned around. Hawthorne chose Christina Aguilera as her coach. At the Battle rounds, Hawthorne faced R&B singer Vance Smith, where they sang "Love Me Harder", a duet by Ariana Grande and The Weeknd. Hawthorne was chosen over Smith, and in the process advanced to the Knockout rounds. During the Knockouts, she covered "Try", but lost this round to her opponent, Kimberly Nichole. She was then stolen by Pharrell Williams. During the Playoffs she sang the Christian hymn How Great Thou Art but was not chosen by America, who could only save two artists from Pharrell Williams team.
