PLUNA HQ
Hi! Regarding http://flypluna.com/cat/en/offices-and-call-centre-41.html
The headquarters is at "Miraflores 1445 (Carrasco)"
Does this mean it is in the Carrasco neighborhood of Montevideo, or does this mean the HQ is on the grounds of the Carrasco Airport? WhisperToMe (talk) 02:17, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Unreferenced living people articles bot
User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects provides a list, updated daily, of unreferenced living people articles (BLPs) related to your project. There has been a lot of discussion recently about deleting these unreferenced articles, so it is important that these articles are referenced.
The unreferenced articles related to your project can be found at >>>Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Uruguay/Unreferenced BLPs<<<
If you do not want this wikiproject to participate, please add your project name to this list.
Thank you.
- Update: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Uruguay/Unreferenced BLPs has been created. This list, which is updated by User:DASHBot/Wikiprojects daily, will allow your wikiproject to quickly identify unreferenced living person articles.
- There maybe no or few articles on this new Unreferenced BLPs page. To increase the overall number of articles in your project with another bot, you can sign up for User:Xenobot_Mk_V#Instructions.
- If you have any questions or concerns, visit User talk:DASHBot/Wikiprojects. Okip 23:17, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Uruguayan football
I notice that this project has been pretty quiet of late. Just looking to see if there would be any interest in working on football articles? Category:Uruguay national football team templates has a few templates with red links that probably deserve articles. Any thoughts? Hack (talk) 00:58, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Trelew
Please see Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Trelew (band) if you might be able to help with perspective on this Uruguayan group's notability. Sources please! - BalthCat (talk) 20:14, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject cleanup listing
I have created together with Smallman12q a toolserver tool that shows a weekly-updated list of cleanup categories for WikiProjects, that can be used as a replacement for WolterBot and this WikiProject is among those that are already included (because it is a member of Category:WolterBot cleanup listing subscriptions). See the tool's wiki page, this project's listing in one big table or by categories and the index of WikiProjects. Svick (talk) 20:08, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you Svick, it is very convenient. I posted it on the main project page. Congrats! Hoverfish Talk 21:04, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Encuentro de Wikipedistas en Uruguay
El próximo 15 de enero es el Primer Encuentro de Wikipedistas en Uruguay, entre otras cosas para celebrar los 10 años de la Misplaced Pages. ¡Festejen, uruguayos! --NaBUru38 (talk) 15:36 January 1 2011 (UTC)
Uruguayan Topics Template: Culture
In the row devoted to Culture there is a link to Sport and next to that Rugby in parenthesis. Why does Rugby have a special link in this template? Football plays a much more prominent role in Uruguayan culture but doesn't have it's own link in this template so why does Rugby?
Note: I have cross-posted the above message on the Template Talk page, but thought I'd place it here where it might get more notice. I will refrain from making any edit because I am not a member of the Uruguayan Wikiproject. --SargentIV (talk) 03:40, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I live in Montevideo and I´m taking pictures about it. For example, about Semana Santa or "Rural del Prado". If someone needs certain photo, please let a message in my talkpage and I´ll try to take it. Cheers. --Andreateletrabajo (talk) 22:45, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

The Empire of Brazil task force has been created. Join the team!
The Empire of Brazil task force has been created. It has as goal the improvement of all articles related to Brazilian (and Uruguayan until 1828) history between 1822 and 1889 during the Empire of Brazil era. Join the team, you're welcome! --Lecen (talk) 19:34, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
cyber warfare
someone, most likely paid by a certain government is editing the articles on CANDOMBE in a very bad way. its...it is some sort of fake appropreiation of culture. it is very dangerous.
are you guys onto this? the article on candombe implies that it is argentine! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.227.158.153 (talk) 09:33, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
Step one: take it easy. The only problem I see is that not enough Uruguayans participate in the English Misplaced Pages. The nature of Misplaced Pages is such that wrongs can be discussed in an appropriate way (not by throwing around accusations or hinting to conspiracies by governments etc, but by learning the rules and being a "wikipedian", so to say). In this way anyone may correct the mistakes or inaccuracies. But this takes "reliable sources" also called "citations" or "references", which means that everything we write has to be based on some notable book or reliable web-source. The validity or reliability of sources can be disputed, but if there are reliable sources stating different things (one says "Candombe is only Uruguayan" the other "Candombe is also Argentinian", then we here MUST write "Source A claims this, while source B claims that". This is the way here. The more one knows the rules and policies of wikipedia, the more one can correct mistakes in the best possible way. If you do not know how to edit wikipedia properly or correct the mistakes, you may ask for help, but then of cource it depends on who you will find. Hoverfish Talk 11:25, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
cuidado
articulos sobre el candobe estan siendo apoderados por extranjeros. implican que el candombe es argentino. algo falso. tambien hablan de brasil? se confunden con candomble? no, lo hacen a proposito. no son bobos. esto es guerra cibernetica.

Categories for discussion nomination of Category:UruguayProject general articles
Category:UruguayProject general articles, which is under the purview of this WikiProject, has been nominated for renaming, along with the other subcategories of Category:WikiProject Uruguay articles by topic. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you. -- Black Falcon 18:59, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Note: the category was renamed to Category:Uruguay (general) articles, please see Category:WikiProject Uruguay articles by topic for all the relevant renamed categories. Also note that links to the renamed categories have not been updated, so if you find any such (red) links, please change them to their new names. Hoverfish Talk 12:29, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Census 2011
The Census 2011 of the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica has not yet reached its final numbers. The official site of the INE states in its FAQ that "The presentation of the preliminary results will be ready in December 2011. The final results, information, commentaries, projections, Marco Muestral, metadata & microdata, will be posted on the first semester of 2012.": INE FAQ, see question "¿Cuándo van a estar listos los resultados?". Please do not update the population and other censal data until the final results are posted. If projected results are given by local authorities, please post them as such (ie, as official projections of the given authority) separately from the INE data and offer a reference to the posted projections. Animated flag
I have open a deletion request for File:Banderauruguaya.gif, which has a bogus licence and an earlier source. I have already replaced it with File:Flag of Uruguay.svg at the project pages that used it, so that Commonsdelinker does not leave an ugly wave of red links when it's closed. Something similar should be done at the Misplaced Pages in Spanish, if anyone wants to prevent that from happening there Cambalachero (talk) 20:31, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, to be honest it was too flashy for me. It keeps grabbing the eyes and after a while it gets on one's nerves. Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 23:46, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

"Isla Paraguaya"?
Does anyone here knows where is located the "Isla Paraguaya" in Uruguay? I believe this is a historical name no longer in use. I have hints that it was located somewhere on the northeast of Uruguay. --Lecen (talk) 11:51, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Antonio Frasconi
The biography Antonio Frasconi desperately needs attention. I tagged its talk page for this wikiproject. See my explanation at Talk: Antonio Frasconi#The Disappeared disappeared.
--P64 (talk) 20:23, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi P64, this project has very few active editors. I did what I could to help you out in that article. However, Antonio Frasconi should belong also to WP Argentina, WP USA and WP Visual arts. I am sure you can get further help from one of them. Hoverfish Talk 00:34, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Penfold pillar boxes
In 1879 Uruguay imported a batch of cast iron hexagonal pillar boxes from England, almost certainly from Cochrane & Co of Dudley, Worcestershire. It is claimed that there were nine of them and that as many as six survive. Most are painted bright yellow, and they form a minor icon of Uruguayan history. In 1993 Correo Uruguayo commemorated these early post boxes with a set of stamps in various denominations. Wikimedia has no images of either the pillar boxes or the stamps commemorating them. There are photos of these Uruguayan pillar boxes elsewhere online, but all that I have found seem to be copyright "all rights reserved".
Please will a Wikipedian in or visiting Uruguay take photographs of one or more of these pillar boxes and donate them to Wikimedia? And please will any Wikipedian philatelist with any of the stamps commemorating them take photographs and donate them to Wikimedia too? The photos would enhance the articles "Pillar box" and "Postage stamps and postal history of Uruguay".

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Misplaced Pages struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.
