Ruth Jones (born in Bridgend, Wales) was born in 1972 and is a character actress perhaps best known for her performances in British comedy series and films.

She was educated at Porthcawl Comprehensive School where she knew Rob Brydon. She attended the University of Warwick, graduating in 1988 with a BA in Theatre Studies and Dramatic Arts. She now lives in Cardiff, Wales.

She was first seen in the hit 1999 film East is East and appeared in four series of Fat Friends. She is probably most recognisable from the popular comedy series Little Britain, in which she appears as Myfanwy, the lesbian barmaid at the Scarecrow and Mrs King pub in the Daffyd Thomas sketches.

Her other television credits include Human Remains in 2000 Nighty Night as Linda Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years Saxondale as Magz

In 2004, she was commissioned to write episode 3 of series 4 of Fat Friends. She has also co-written a radio play The Cyhiraeth with Debbie Moon and has been commissioned to co-write the original comedy series Gavin and Stacey for Baby Cow Productions.
