Jessica Lange (born April 20, 1949) is an American Academy Award winning actress.

She was born Jessica Phyllis Lange in Cloquet, Minnesota. She went to Paris after high school to study drama, then returned to New York, where she became a fashion model.

In 1976, Dino De Laurentiis cast her in his motion picture remake King Kong, which received unfavorable press. She disappeared from the screen for a few years, then returned in a small role in All That Jazz (1979).

Lange became a star opposite Jack Nicholson in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981).

Jessica Lange has received Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Tootsie (1982) and for Blue Sky (1994). She was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of actress Frances Farmer in Frances (1982), for Country (1984), for Sweet Dreams (1985) and for Music Box (1989).

In 1992, Lange made her Broadway debut opposite Alec Baldwin in A Streetcar Named Desire.
