I just googled for snippets from this text, because it read like a marketing brochure (especially the overglorified Space Harrier description made me wonder), and found this and this. Copyright violation?
Most sentences have been modified and sometimes reworded, but the structure and content is an almost complete copy.--Tjansen 20:35, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Text Snippet Regarding Shenmue's Innovation
I noticed there was a piece of hidden text regarding the nature of Shenmue's impact on the industry and I tried to clarify that bit as much as possible within the given space. The innovation is denoted by Suzuki basically creating a new type of genre, FREE, for which Shenmue is technically classified as, despite claims that it is of the traditional RPG ilk. 63.233.72.46
Source?
Is there a source for Suzuki's comments on the next gen consoles? If not, this section should be removed. --NEMT 19:42, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- No source can be found in any of the previous versions via history, I'll go ahead and remove the section in question. -Vic Vipr 11:52, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Most expensive game
I added a source to the $70 million statement, and reworded that sentence. Everyone agrees? Segata128 13:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Date errors
Champion Boxing was released in arcades in *1984*. Source: The game itself, the arcade flyer. The Killer List of Videogame source for 1983 even has a screenshot of the game plainly saying 1984, yet this error is repeated in several places over Misplaced Pages almost as if it were a deliberate campaign of misinformation, hehe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.224.40.196 (talk) 12:59, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Updating References
I've updated this articles references. Some notes (unresolved problems indicated with bold "!"):
- Ref 1 - Clothed with "cite web" template.
- Ref 2 - Clothed with "cite web" template.
- Ref 3 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Updated citation parameters.
- Ref 4 (!) - Updated with "cite episode" template. The problem here is (1) no episode name is given, and (2) according to every episode list I can find, season 2 only has 10 episodes, but the citation gives the episode number as 13. It also needs more information. Someone more familiar with this reference needs to take a look at this.
- Ref 5 - Dead link. Updated with archive.today.
- Ref 6 - Updated citation parameters.
- Ref 7 - Updated URL. Updated with "cite web" template.
- Ref 8 - Changed author parameter to first and last parameters.
- Ref 9* (!) - This constitutes a probable copyright violation (uploader does not appear to be the owner). I'm removing it from the article per WP:YOUTUBE and placing it here. (Ref numbers below will reflect this change.) This needs to be replaced with information detailing the program this clip is taken from rather than citing Youtube. Someone more familiar with this citation should have a look. See also Misplaced Pages:Videos_as_references#YouTube_videos_as_references.

- Ref 9 - Updated with current URL. Updated parameters.
- Ref 10 - No change.
- Ref 11 - Updated with current URL. Updated with "cite web" template.
- Ref 12 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Updated with "cite web" parameter.
- Ref 14* - Duplicate of ref 3. Merged. (Ref numbers below will reflect this change)
- Ref 13 - Updated with current URL. Updated with "cite web" template.
- Ref 14 - Updated with current URL. Updated with "cite web" template.
- Ref 15 - Updated with current URL. Updated citation parameters.
- Ref 18* - (trailer for Shenmue) This video is a clear copyright violation (does not come from an official channel, uploader does not own the rights to this clip). Removed per WP:YOUTUBE. (Ref numbers below will reflect this change)
- Ref 16 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 17 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 18 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template. Updated URL.
- Ref 19 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 20 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template. Updated URL.
- Ref 21 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template. Updated URL.
- Ref 22 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 23 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 24 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 25 (!) - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template. Updated URL. I'm not sure this constitutes a valid source. Segabits.com is not mentioned on the Wikiproject Video Games source list, and on top of that this is a blog post by an author known only as "George." I'm going come back in a few days and remove this unless anyone has an objection (if so, please comment below my signature rather than directly below this bullet point).
- Ref 26 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 27 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 31* - I'm moving this here, because (1) the current URL redirects to a page that has nothing to with the topic, and (2) so does the only Wayback archive, and (3) this has a similar problem to Ref 25 although this looks more reliable. If anyone can find a proper archive for this, feel free to add it back. (Ref numbers below will reflect this change).
- Ref 28 - Dead link. Updated with Wayback. Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 29 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template.
- Ref 34* (!) - GDC 2011: Yu Suzuki Career Retrospective. This video is a clear copyright violation (does not come from an official channel, uploader does not own the rights to this clip). Removed per WP:YOUTUBE. (Ref numbers below will reflect this change). However, if anyone can find the information for where this came from and cite that, then that would be fine (further information). I'm moving the link to this page for ease of reference.
- Ref 35* (!) - This video appears to belong to the uploader. However, citing the youtube link as it currently is is not ok. I've moved it here for now (Ref numbers below will reflect this change). If anyone can find the details for where this came from and cite that, then that would be fine (further information).
- Ref 36* (!) - This page just has an embedded version of the same video from the Ref 30** and is used to back up the same claim as Ref 30**. I'm removing it(Ref numbers below will reflect this change).
- Ref 37* (!) - Another youtube video from the same uploader as Ref 30* with the same copyright concerns. Moved below for ease of reference (Ref numbers below will reflect this change). Again, if someone can find the metadata for this video then that would be fine for a citation.
- Ref 38* (!) - this doesn't look like a copyright violation, but it can't be cited like this. It would be fine to add it back with the proper citation data.(Ref numbers below will reflect this change).
- Ref 30 - Update with PDFLink template.
- Ref 31 - Updated with "cite web template.
- Ref 32 - Updated with "cite web template.
- Ref 42* - Another naked youtube link.
- Ref 33 - Clothed naked link with "cite web" template. Updated URL.
Other notes:
- I've standardized accessdate and archivedate paramaters to YYYY-MM-DD format and date parameters to MONTH DAY, YEAR per MOS:DATEUNIFY.
- All Ref numbers that have a star after them have been removed from the article and their number is the number that was present before my edit. Ref numbers without stars indicate the reference for that number after my edit was completed.
- I've changed the reflist to "reflist|2" for a cleaner look.
- I didn't touch the four sources below the reflist.
- None of these have been checked for content. I did not verify whether these citations support the claims in the article.
Please, if you add references in the future, use a citation template. Please do not use naked links with no citation data. --chrisFjordson (talk) 06:32, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
