The International Space Elevator Consortium (ISEC) is an international organization that promotes the development, construction, and operation of a space elevator as "a revolutionary and efficient way to space for all humanity". It was formed after the Space Elevator Conference in Redmond, Washington in July 2008 and became an affiliate organization with the National Space Society in August 2013.

ISEC coordinates with the two other major societies focusing on space elevators: the Japanese Space Elevator Association and EuroSpaceward. ISEC supports symposia and presentations at the International Academy of Astronautics and the International Astronautical Federation Congress each year.

History

Since 2008, ISEC has organized a yearly conference, some of which have been co-sponsored by Microsoft, Seattle Museum of Flight, Space Elevator Blog, and the Leeward Space Foundation.

ISEC strategy includes adopting a yearly theme to focus activities. Past themes were: 2009-2010, Space Debris Mitigation - Space Elevator Survivability. 2010-2011, Research and thought targeted towards the goal of a 30 MYuri tether. 2011-2012, Operating and Maintaining a Space Elevator. 2012-2013, Tether Climbers. 2013-2014, Architecture & Roadmaps. 2014-2015, Carbon Nanotube Tensile Strength Progress and Marine Node Design Characteristics.

ISEC has a History Committee that actively documents The History of the Space Elevator.

The organization publishes a peer reviewed journal on space elevators called CLIMB.
