Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Omar Amanat (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection. NJ Trolls keep vandalising sourced info and reverting to edit wars and slander on a US businessperson without giving explanations, edit summaries or talk page posts. --J_araneo August 2006 (UTC)

    Adnan Oktar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full protection please. Multiple sockpuppets, probably associated with Oktar continue to remove any paragraph critical of him. Everything they're removing is sourced, as well. Thanks... —Khoikhoi 00:55, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. Voice-of-All 03:58, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

List of pseudoscientific theories (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full Protection I would do so myself but I made an edit to the page a few days ago and there is so much acrimony right now on the page that I'd rather make everything look completely above board. The page has turned into a massive edit war with at least three different camps fighting over what should be included. Thanks. JoshuaZ 00:21, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Fully protected due to revert warring. Voice-of-All 04:02, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

    Gaia Online (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection. Article is in the process of being vandalized by trolls from 4chan, as evidenced in the page history. --Coredesat talk. ^_^ 00:13, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Request withdrawn, vandal flood/edit war seems to have come to an end. --Coredesat talk. ^_^ 02:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

    Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Anarcho-homosexualism (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Request semi-protection to allow AFD discussion. Anon user (likely the author of the original author) repeatedly vandalizing the discussion. -- Fan-1967 22:48, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Article was briefly hit by bored vandals a few days ago. Vandals have moved on. 71.67.132.178 03:06, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Its still to soon to un-protect since the wave of vandalism will likely continue immediately after un-protection. Voice-of-All 03:49, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

    Joe Lieberman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This page has been previously hit by vandals, and was in an edit war, however, everything has cooled off. This page is going to see a lot of traffic in the coming days, and it needs some work. Semi-protection could be a viable option, but a full block on this page is unreasonable, and needs to be modified. --MZMcBride 15:05, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    • I originally requested the semi-protection, and agree that it might be time to return to semi-protection. The edit war between the two editors seems to have calmed down, and there is a mediation in place. If they edit war again, it may be possible to block them individually, rather than fully protecting the article. But, I strongly believe that semi-protection is still needed, considering the level of vandalism that was occurring before the semi, and with an election pending (Aug 8). Sandy 17:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
    • I agree with Sandy, semi-protection (at least) is needed til after the election tomorrow. Phr (talk) 20:01, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Hakan Şükür (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Request semi-protection, an anon user is sürekli continuously adding an insulting nickname and removing world-wide known nickname of player. Same user is also doing same thing on tr:wiki. Article was semi-protected for several times. He is also sometimes attacking others, calling them "cheerleader (amigo)" (in tr:wiki). --Ugur Basak 21:34, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    User:Tom walker (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Request semi-protection- have been vandalised (blanked and edited) by the same IP four times, as can be seen in page history. To my knowlage this vanda lis not currently blocked - also I have no wish for unregistered users to edit my User page anyway. I was recomended this as a solution. Cranbourne, Victoria (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This page should be unprotected as any vandals who target this page can be blocked as it's not an article that has regular protections such as George W. Bush. Peterpansyndrome 16:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

    • Seems to have been subjected to a rash of baiting sockpuppets. I see no harm in waiting for a couple of days for them to get (yet more) bored before removing semi-protection. Alai 00:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    G. Patrick Maxwell (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

protected due to repeated reverts by trolling vandal (who's account is now suspended for behavior on other threads). Documentation available for removal of inappropriate & inflamatory information re dismissed lawsuit who's inclusion violates WP bio guidelines re. primary sources and relevencyDroliver 14:18, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

The reasonable issues that started the revert war do not yet seem to have been resolved. It is also too soon to assume that the editors have lost enough interest. Consider adding {{Editprotected}} to the page's talk page to request small modifications, or making a significant edit request on this page for large edits that are agreed upon. I am not sure exactly what "Documentation" you are referring to either, please link that.Voice-of-All 03:42, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

    Funeral (album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Requesting move protection as the article has been moved twice by a user whose vanity band article did not survive AFD. --Dhartung | Talk 13:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Voice-of-All 02:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

    Neil Rogers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Whole page edit was to restore prior comp-lete information. Last edit before protection elimineated both content and context and omitted important information. No reason to protect; current state of article omits important relevant information. Please restore open access.

    • As with the above article, this is only semi-protected; if there's any need for urgent updates to this article, taking it to the still-virgin talk page is certainly an option. Alai 00:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    User:Myrtone86/Navigation (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

    Great power (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Request for Semi-protection. Numerous editors have now told a single IP editor that their edits do not meet the consensus opinion that was discussed on the talk pages (and has also been archived). This has led to the IP editor making nearly 10 reversion edits (for which they've also been nominated for a 3RR offense). ju66l3r 08:25, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

The IP editor has been given a 24hr ban for 3RR offense and continues to switch IP addresses in order to bypass the block and continue editing the article to their own end. ju66l3r 08:37, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

    Brighton (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Apologies for this non-standard request, but would an administrator please look at the Brighton article – it is carrying the protected tag (as placed there this evening by a mediator from the mediation cabal, but who is now expected to be offline for a few days), but in the last hour it has been successfully edited by an anonymous user, and so presumably the protection isn't working. Thanks. – Kieran T 23:42, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

It appeared that someone thought they could protect the article by placing a tag. I've removed the tag. Yanksox 00:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification, Yanksox. Could I please, therefore, upgrade this request to a formal request for semi-protection as the mediator had intended? (Please see Talk:Brighton for evidence of this.) – Kieran T 00:17, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
There isn't enough recent activity from the anons or severe vandalism to justify semi-protection. From the looks of the talk page and the archives, an easy resolution can be reached through talking. Also, it appears that you all agree on working on the quality of the article. It appears semi-protection would be unnecessary. If anything arises you can repost this article here. Yanksox 00:25, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

    Template:Test4im (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) and Template:Test4im-n (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Requesting semi-protection. Because of their use in countervandalism efforts, these are high-risk templates that we shouldn't allow newly registered and anonymous users to tamper with. When these templates are placed on talk pages, there should be some assurance that, for instance, the stop hand icon hasn't been replaced with a picture of a phallus. While there seems to be little value in permitting newly registered and anonymous users to edit the templates, semi-protection is extraordinarily valuable in preventing the templates from being compromised. Also requesting full move protection for the same reason. John254 22:48, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
