Notability of Perera B.S. (musician)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Perera B.S. (musician), by another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Perera B.S. (musician) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Perera B.S. (musician), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 16:50, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Category:Sri Lankan surnames
I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Misplaced Pages pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Misplaced Pages:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding ] to articles/categories that belong in it.
I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.
If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

Speedy deletion of Gratification behavior (in early childhood)
A tag has been placed on Gratification behavior (in early childhood) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Gratification disorder, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot. Image copyright problem with File:Sigiri lanka art.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Sigiri lanka art.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 06:08, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Help Needed
Hi, sorry to bother you but I saw you edit on the Sinhalese wikipedia, and I'm assuming you speak the lingo. Over at pages needing translation we have this article, ලෝක යුද්දය, which we believe to be Sinhalese, but none of us know it. If its not too much trouble, please could you take a look and tell us what its about/if its worth keeping? Thank you--Jac16888 14:59, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
- Fantastic, thank you--Jac16888 09:03, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Skype toolbar formatting at Dog
HI Singhalawap, I've reverted this edit. Whatever Skype toolbar formatting is, it's unacceptable at en:wiki as far as I know. My revert also undid your change to the interwiki link to the Sinhalese-language wiki, so can you please look at that? Of course you are free to add appropriate interwikis, but I don't have the right fonts to evaluate that portion of your edit so I reverted your entire change. Regards! Franamax (talk) 22:53, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Refactored response here per my preference for user talk page discussions. Franamax (talk) 02:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- I corrected the incorrect interwiki link to correct one (for sinhala language). I can not understand why you change it. If you can not sinhala fonts on your you can get it fixed. Needed software will be available at official site.Singhalawap (talk) 02:08, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- Look at the edit again, you added extra text. If you look at the diff or edit the before and after text and search, you should be able to find "of_the_skype_highlighting" in the text of your version. It shows up in the footnotes under reference #4. Maybe you have a misconfigured browser plugin and it is putting in extra text that you can't see, but it shows up for me. Perhaps it is the extra software you suggest I install that is causing a problem for you. As I said, you are free to make changes to interwiki links - but not if they break the English language version. (NOTE that I was prevented from committing my original response, so there is a definite technical problem with your Skype plugin for Firefox!) Franamax (talk) 02:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- There is defintely a technical problem here, we call it "Edit filter 313" and it is a problem with the Skype plugin on your Firefox browser. Here is the message you probably ignored when you made your edit: MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-skype. If you don't uninstall the Skype toolbar, you may find your edits being reverted in future too, possibly without any explanation. Franamax (talk) 03:41, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Ganga, aru and River
At somepoint you had redirected Kanakarayan Aru to Kanakarayan River, it is like redireting Mahaveli Ganga to Mahaveli River ? Thanks Kanatonian (talk) 19:25, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Kanatonian
- Your guess is correct.
- Aru is the Tamil word for river
- Ganga is the Sinhala (Singhalese) word for river
- Singhalawap (talk) 18:55, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Kanatonian
- Mahaweli Ganga is already redirected to Mahaweli River.
- This is totally correct

Disambiguation link notification
Hi. In Gambooge, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Sinhala (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to violate Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did at Sri Lankan Civil War, you may be blocked from editing. obi2canibe 14:48, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- I did not know that this is a violation of English wikipedia policy. Forgive me for that. Many countries (including Sri Lanka, India, USA & European countries) has declared LTTE as terrorist organization. That is the reason for my activity. Thank you for correcting me if I have done something wrong.

Hospital categories
I have noticed that you have changed the categories of some Sri Lankan hospitals.
Whilst Category:Line Ministry Hospitals of Sri Lanka is technically correct, the term "line ministry" is unheard of outside Sri Lanka. Category:Central government hospitals in Sri Lanka is a much better description that all readers can understand.
Category:Provincial Council Hospitals of Sri Lanka is not correct because the provincial councils don't run the hospital, they are just the legislative body. It's the provincial government consisting of the Governor and Board of Ministers who run the hospitals. To call provincial hospitals "Provincial Council Hospitals" is like calling central government hospitals "Parliament Hospitals". Therefore Category:Provincial government hospitals in Sri Lanka is a the correct description of provincial hospitals.--obi2canibe 18:09, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Regarding Rizana Nafeek's photograph
Hii Singhalawap
This is to say that I uploaded a new version (much clearer one) of Rizana Nafeek's photograph to Wiki,I tried several times to Update the File:Rizana Nafeek.jpg page,(which you had created) with this clearer version, but for some reason the updated version was not visible in the wikipedia page,so I uploaded it separately,Here it is http://en.wikipedia.org/File:Rizana_Nafeek_%281988-2013%29.jpg
Thanks :-) MediaJet (talk) 08:49, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Rizana Nafeek.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Rizana Nafeek.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:41, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

The Misplaced Pages Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
The Misplaced Pages Library gets Misplaced Pages editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.
- Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
- Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
- If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Pavonia odorata for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

Medical Translation Newsletter
Wikiproject Medicine; Translation Taskforce
Medical Translation Newsletter
Issue 1, June/July 2014
by CFCF, Doc James
This is the first of a series of newsletters for Wikiproject Medicine's Translation Task Force. Our goal is to make all the medical knowledge on Misplaced Pages available to the world, in the language of your choice.
note: you will not receive future editions of this newsletter unless you *sign up*; you received this version because you identify as a member of WikiProject MedicineSpotlight - Simplified article translation
Wikiproject Medicine started translating simplified articles in February 2014. We now have 45 simplified articles ready for translation, of which the first on African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness has been translated into 46 out of ~100 languages. This list does not include the 33 additional articles that are available in both full and simple versions.
Our goal is to eventually translate 1,000 simplified articles. This includes:
- WHO's list of Essential Medicines
- Neglected tropical diseases
- Key diseases for medical subspecialties like: oncology, emergency medicine (list), anatomy, internal medicine, surgery, etc.
We are looking for subject area leads to both create articles and recruit further editors. We need people with basic medical knowledge who are willing to help out. This includes to write, translate and especially integrate medical articles.
What's happening?
- IEG grant
I've (CFCF) taken on the role of community organizer for this project, and will be working with this until December. The goals and timeline can be found here, and are focused on getting the project on a firm footing and to enable me to work near full-time over the summer, and part-time during the rest of the year. This means I will be available for questions and ideas, and you can best reach me by mail or on my talk page.
- Wikimania 2014
For those going to London in a month's time (or those already nearby) there will be at least one event for all medical editors, on Thursday August 7th. See the event page, which also summarizes medicine-related presentations in the main conference. Please pass the word on to your local medical editors.
- Integration progress
There has previously been some resistance against translation into certain languages with strong Misplaced Pages presence, such as Dutch, Polish, and Swedish.
What was found is that thre is hardly any negative opinion about the the project itself; and any such critique has focused on the ways that articles have being integrated. For an article to be usefully translated into a target-Wiki it needs to be properly Wiki-linked, carry proper citations and use the formatting of the chosen target language as well as being properly proof-read. Certain large Wikis such as the Polish and Dutch Wikis have strong traditions of medical content, with their own editorial system, own templates and different ideas about what constitutes a good medical article. For example, there are not MEDRS (Polish,German,Romanian,Persian) guidelines present on other Wikis, and some Wikis have a stronger background of country-specific content.
- Swedish
Translation into Swedish has been difficult in part because of the amount of free, high quality sources out there already: patient info, for professionals. The same can be said for English, but has really given us all the more reason to try and create an unbiased and 💕 of medical content. We want Misplaced Pages to act as an alternative to commercial sources, and preferably a really good one at that.
Through extensive collaborative work and by respecting links and Sweden specific content the last unintegrated Swedish translation went live in May. - Dutch
Dutch translation carries with it special difficulties, in part due to the premises in which the Dutch Misplaced Pages is built upon. There is great respect for what previous editors have created, and deleting or replacing old content can be frowned upon. In spite of this there are success stories: Anafylaxie. - Polish
Translation and integration into Polish also comes with its own unique set of challenges. The Polish Misplaced Pages has long been independent and works very hard to create high quality contentfor Polish audience. Previous translation trouble has lead to use of unique templates with unique formatting, not least among citations. Add to this that the Polish Misplaced Pages does not allow template redirects and a large body of work is required for each article.
(This is somewhat alleviated by a commissioned Template bot - to be released). - List of articles for integration - Arabic
The Arabic Misplaced Pages community has been informed of the efforts to integrate content through both the general talk-page as well as through one of the major Arabic Misplaced Pages facebook-groups: مجتمع ويكيبيديا العربي, something that has been heralded with great enthusiasm.
- Integration guides
Integration is the next step after any translation. Despite this it is by no means trivial, and it comes with its own hardships and challenges. Previously each new integrator has needed to dive into the fray with little help from previous integrations. Therefore we are creating guides for specific Wikis that make integration simple and straightforward, with guides for specific languages, and for integrating on small Wikis.
Instructions on how to integrate an article may be found here

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
