Stephen John Nash (born February 7, 1974) is a Canadian basketball player.
Nash is a starting point guard for the NBA's Phoenix Suns. He was an NBA All-Star in 2002 and 2003 with the Dallas Mavericks.
Nash was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. He played college basketball for Santa Clara University. He plays for the Canada national team in the summer, where he wears the number 7.
Steve Nash began has NBA career with the Phoenix Suns from 1996 to 1998. On June 25, 1998, Nash was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Martin Muursepp, Bubba Wells, the draft rights to Pat Garrity, and a first-round draft pick. Nash was a key franchise player with the Mavericks from 1998 to 2004. On July 1, 2004, it was announced that Steve Nash would be signing as a free agent with the Phoenix Suns, but NBA regulations prevented the deal from being formally completed until July 14.
In an interview with Steve Nash, he said his favorite book is, "The Catcher In The Rye". He also mentioned that he is extremely fond of Mahatma Gandhi, because he is constantly searching for truth.
