about me
My name is George Watson, or dendodge if you prefer, and I'm a theoretical physics student at the University of York.
I used to edit Misplaced Pages quite heavily, and I racked up more than 12,000 edits between 2007 and 2011. Eventually, though, the drama drove me away, and I moved to Wikinews, where I wrote a lot of articles and became an editor, administrator, OTRS volunteer, and arbitrator (during a particularly uneventful term that saw literally zero cases). Wikinews subsequently became even worse for drama, and I left the Wikimedia family altogether.
For a while, I worked on OpenGlobe, a Wikinews fork that aimed to fix the perceived problems with the original; unfortunately, after about two years of varying success (during which time I became a project manager), the project closed down due to a lack of funding. I'm still involved in non-traditional journalism as the creative director of LibreGlobe, a project still in its planning phase, and through my contributions to Nouse, the campus broadsheet.
I eventually missed Misplaced Pages, so I decided to resurrect my account here, with the caveat that drama (i.e., every single project-space page) is to be avoided as much as possible. I want to contribute content, and little more. That means I won't allow myself to get dragged into disputes (unless another editor raises an issue with my actions specifically), and I won't attempt to "collect hats"—I'm happy to be a standard member of the editing proletariat for the time being.
University and having a real life keep me pretty busy, so I don't actually have a great deal of time to contribute—and the time I have tends to be spent on less productive things—but I'm generally around to respond to things, and I'm interested in any contributions I can make to content, so please do get in touch if you have a project for me.
I've only contributed significantly to a couple of good articles so far, so this section looks rather sparse right now. I should definitely rectify that at some point.

awards
I appreciate barnstars and things, and I'm (very) flattered to receive them, but I see no point in keeping an archive of them all here—it strikes me as "trophy collecting", and will probably serve only to inflate my ego (although that won't stop me from giving them out when I feel they're deserved!). However, certain awards are probably worth mentioning.
This Barnstar goes to DendodgeT\ for his outstanding work on creating and improving new articles related to The Beatles. The project hasn’t seen so much new input and creativity for a long time (although Dendodge has been diligently working on it for ages now, and often all by himself) so I wish the receiver of this Barnstar to feel very proud, and to sing “Yeah, yeah, yeah”.--andreasegde (talk) 18:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
This is for all your hard work improving everything connected with The Beatles. Enjoy, because you've earned it...--andreasegde (talk) 12:14, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
For your hard work on the current Misplaced Pages Spotlight article Kristallnacht, now a GA, I award you this barnstar for your quality Misplaced Pages Spotlight participation. Congratulations! JamieS93 12:44, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
