33°04′50″N 35°25′20″E / 33.08056°N 35.42222°E / 33.08056; 35.42222 Maroun al-Ras (in Arabic: مارون الراس) is a village located in Southern Lebanon. It was the scene of a major confrontation between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah fighters during the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese conflict.

Maroun al-Ras is strategically important as it overlooks the Israeli village of Avivim, about 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) away. The village's elevation is 911 meters (2,988 feet).

The village was occupied by Israel after they said it was a stronghold for Hezbollah and one of the launching points for rocket attacks on northern Israel.

Six Israeli soldiers were killed in the village, though Israel says it drove Hezbollah out.
