The film was received poorly both critically and commercially, earning a score of 14% on the film ratings website Rotten Tomatoes. The film grossed $151 million in worldwide box-office sales but failed to recoup its total budget of $225 million (consisting of $175 million for the film's production and $50 million for its distribution and marketing).
