Thank you for atleast trying with WV , I guess you knew it was gonna be a waste of time from the start but thank you for atleast trying!, At the end of the day you tried patching things up and that's all you can do - If they don't wanna know then that's there problem not yours, |
I see you know how to use TimedText...
...And are far better at getting the caption timings right than I am. There's a long list of TimedText pages with broken captions to fix, if you're interested in helping out. What funner way can there be to spend Christmas</s>? There's not really any central hub pages for TimedText (closest is WP:WPACCESS), so I thought I might as well personally inform you about it. Daily Mail
Hi MaranoFan – regarding your edits on "Love Me Like You", I personally am not that fussed about your deletion of what you consdier unreliable sources, as I don't feel the information supplied is amazingly important to the article anyway. I'm just wondering, however, why you consider the Daily Mail to be an unreliable source. Granted, it's a tabloid newspaper, but still the second biggest-selling daily national newspaper in the UK, and probably more reliable that some of the other sources left in there. I do agree with you, however, that this article and several others probably should not have passed GA given the reliability of some of the sources. Cheers. Richard3120 (talk) 18:33, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Richard3120: Search the WP:RSN for Daily Mail. Several archived discussions determine it as unsuitable for use.--MaranoFan (talk) 18:45, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
- Fair enough, thank you for pointing me to those links. Like I said, in the case of what amounts to celebrity gossip like this, I'm not sure how much it really contributes to the article anyway, regardless of whether the source is considered credible or not. And personally I have no time for a newspaper that probably considers Donald Trump to be a bit of a lefty liberal communist. Richard3120 (talk) 19:08, 9 April 2016 (UTC)

- Hi MaranoFan, I don't have any time to spare as I'm behind on, and neck deep in, an Arbcom filing, and in monitoring the very long and currently very active Prince (musician) article; plus things that I have gotten backlogged on because I didn't have a decent computer for two weeks. Furthermore, I actually know practically zilch about Adele and even less about that song. That article only came to my attention after I happened to see an AfD of a notable song by Adele, so I was collecting Google links about some of her songs. Perhaps the other Adele editors could help, or perhaps you could request a special dispensation for a continuance of the GAR when you return. Softlavender (talk) 17:03, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Request
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).MaranoFan (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I have realised my mistake of having made a derogatory statement toward Calvin the other day. I am the fourth largest contributor to that article and decided to nominate it for GA. What's more? Cornerstonepicker and User:Lips Are Movin are the largest contributors to that article! and I am in constant interaction with them (and were ll super familiar with the topic). However, using bad words like "fuck" and "shut up" accounts for bullying, and I am strictly against that. About unblocking me, I would like to assure admins that I have understood the mistakes I have been making, I should be unblocked as blocks are preventative not punitive. I didn't even edit ANI and try to add fuel to the fire. I would also like to assure you that I will keep no interaction with Calvin. If he chooses to interact with me, I won't respond, If he doesn't, we'll and good. If admins decide to impose an IBAN between us, I am also okay with that. I am truly sorry for whoever I've hurt. I am also a constructive editor, I have lots of GAs and DYKs recently, even if I don't have a 6-year wiki- history to back me up. Finally, I would like to add that I do have bipolar disorder and haven't taken what I perceive as provocation well. However, y'all will see that that will change as I gain more control. If in the future some discussion gets too heated, expect me to go on a wiki break on my own. One thing I can surely promise is that I keep my promises, and this is a promise. I have also served out full blocks before, and adhered to my IBAN even if that feeling was not mutual. Thank you.--MaranoFan (talk) 06:18, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Decline reason:
This block seems to be the result of a long history of ongoing disruption between you and Calvin999. I see mutual battleground behaviour and a failure to assume good faith. You say this is in the past but on this very page while blocked you refer to their edits as vandalism. I have no confidence whatsoever that you are ready to disengage. I think the duration of the block is appropriate as it takes time to change habits long held. The duration was long but an indefinite block is likely if it continues. I hope in the future you two can either get along or avoid each other. HighInBC 01:58, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Also, I have indicated a request to be mentored by Swarm, so that will likely help too. My GA review of Like I'm Gonna Lose You is her too. Can I please have the above request considered?--MaranoFan (talk) 06:32, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Using your unblock request to continue arguing about the dispute that got you blocked in the first place is not the route to being unblocked. Please refer to WP:GAB, particularly WP:NOTTHEM. Chase (talk | contributions) 14:48, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Chase, great to see you're back. Now on topic:The summary for the block states that's it is for a "battle", Now the series of events that lead to that we're a result of provocation. And that is what I describe through my unblock request.--MaranoFan (talk) 14:58, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
MaranoFan, I'm not an administrator, and there any many administrators, each with their own perspective. So I can't definitely say whether your unblock request will be successful; I can say, having observed the results of many unblock requests, in my opinion, it's more likely to fail than succeed. I suggest editing to the following:
I have realised my mistake of having made a derogatory statement toward Calvin the other day. I am the fourth largest contributor to that article and decided to nominate it for GA. What's more? - No, NE Ent, your suggestions are truly helpful. I am always open to constructive criticism. Thanks for your feedback.--MaranoFan (talk) 15:16, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, some more info for reviewing admin. Calvin999 started this particular incident, but MF has been giving as good as they get for a long time. This block was not for saying "fuck off" in isolation; it was because it is part of a continuing pattern over the last few months (years? I don't know, I haven't checked). For example, the Hatfield vs McCoy thing came to my attention in the first place when MF was very blatantly trying to goad Winkelvi a few weeks ago, related to the GA nom of Billy the Kid. Other times, it's been WV and others poking MF. MF is not an innocent party, and they are not the only guilty party. So this is not a matter of MF getting tricked into something this one time and getting a one month block. It was made crystal clear in the last ANI thread (one of about a dozen this year) that the community is sick to death of all of this. I won't support or oppose another admin modifying this block, but that's the reason it's a month long. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:22, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Floquenbeam: Again, preventative not punitive. The key thing to observe is that I have been out of the drama for like one whole month. I have understood my mistakes, and won't be repeating them again. Also please don't mention parties I'm not allowed to interact with, the IBAN has worked out very well and we don't have issues anymore.--MaranoFan (talk) 16:26, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm leaving a message for the reviewing admin, not you, so there is no problem mentioning another editor. You don't need to discuss them, they aren't welcome to comment here, etc. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:30, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Floq, Calvin is still mentioning me on his talk page, even after saying he would stop stalking me.--MaranoFan (talk) 16:33, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Accusing others of stalking you is not proving that you and Calvin aren't going to stop disrupting the project. That's why you're blocked right now. This is preventative. Chase (talk | contributions) 16:50, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Floq, Calvin is still mentioning me on his talk page, even after saying he would stop stalking me.--MaranoFan (talk) 16:33, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm leaving a message for the reviewing admin, not you, so there is no problem mentioning another editor. You don't need to discuss them, they aren't welcome to comment here, etc. --Floquenbeam (talk) 16:30, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Again, the issues are with the same one or two users. We all work well alone for what it's worth. Calvin has a lot of good articles and I was just starting to make progress. These individual blocks won't help anything. You know that they will keep vandalising my good article nominations. What is needed here is IBANs, yes. Please let's just place an Iban between us and get on with our lives. I have two good articles pending, and even he has many. The whole notion of this block is ridiculous. Your reasoning was WP:Battle. But if we have a battle, just stop the battle by pulling us away from each other, not by pulling off two constr uctive editors off-wiki altogether. Other viable options are a ANI ban for him (not for me as I've stopped going there a long time ago).--MaranoFan (talk) 16:51, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- You don't seem to get it, MaranoFan. You have to stop talking about Calvin and watching his editing. Don't wait for an admin to impose an IBan. Just focus on how this block was prompted by your own behavior. You shouldn't be mentioning Calvin or other editors at all if you want to be unblocked. Liz 17:00, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Echoing Liz here. Behavior like this – trying to communicate/instigate matters with Calvin while blocked – demonstrates that you're not willing to play nice or improve on the behavior that got you blocked. I recommend that admins revoke talk page editing rights if this continues. Chase (talk | contributions) 17:02, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Not necessarily; it's possible that MaranoFan is willing to "play nice," as you say, and improve their behavior but lacks the skill set to do so without more specific guidance. - @NE Ent: OK, I am not watching their contribs anymore. If it is possible, I would like someone to WP:MENTOR me and help me make rational decisions even when I lose my temper a bit. I hope one of you wishes to take this responsibility. Thanks.--MaranoFan (talk) 06:42, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- My real life commitments are such that the time I have available for wiki activities varies greatly and unexpectedly; for that reason I'm unable to take on commitments such as mentoring. NE Ent 13:02, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- No problem, I have applied for adoption anyways. Thanks for considering. ;)--MaranoFan (talk) 13:09, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Dear Future Husband
On 24 April 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dear Future Husband, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Meghan Trainor considered "Dear Future Husband" to be one of the strongest tracks on Title? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dear Future Husband. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Dear Future Husband), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Request
This user is asking that her block be reviewed:
MaranoFan (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am ready to fully disengage with users I have had conflicts before with. I promise to stop replying to any comment they make about me. I can be trusted to hold my promises. While in the previous unblock request, I was still referencing them. I want to make this one about my actions. I will be exercising more good faith in my post-block future. I have fully realised the part I played in past conflicts, and yes there was a recurring pattern. But I do have bipolar disorder, and hope for a little more lenience from other users. I will always read up on guidelines before making any sort of nominations. I was wrong and disruptive to offend the other party. But I will keep a cool and calm attitude from now on. It will be really nice to overcome these disputes, and stop engaging in battles. And I think the mentorship I am gonna be receiving is going to start a new chapter in my wiki-life. I promise to fully let go of my past WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality. Yes, I have made mistakes in the past. And I think bringing a change in myself than going on correcting others is the first step in the right direction. That is what I am going to be doing from now.--MaranoFan (talk) 12:56, 24 April 2016 (UTC)Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. Your GA nomination of Like I'm Gonna Lose You
The article Like I'm Gonna Lose You you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Like I'm Gonna Lose You for things which need to be addressed. - @Cornerstonepicker: As a fellow WikiProject Meghan Trainor member and the largest contributor to the LIGLY article, can you possibly pick up this review in my absence. Thank you in advance.-MaranoFan (talk) 16:24, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
