Career

Monica Cafferky is a British freelance journalist who has written for a number of publications including the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, The Sun, Daily Express, The Guardian, News of the World, Star on Sunday, The Scotsman, Woman's Own, Woman, Chat, Red, Company and numerous other national newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad.

Her first job was on a martial arts magazine followed by a two-year stint as a staff writer on Woman's Own. Since going freelance in 2002, she's spent the weekend with a coven of witches, interviewed some of her favourite authors and had a weekly Mind, Body, Spirit page in "The Daily Mirror", which ran for three years.

Awards

In 1996, Monica won a scholarship from the Reuters Foundation (now Thomson Reuters Foundation) to attend a training course at Green College, Oxford, with Reuters. She was the only British journalist selected for this award, which was open to all media worldwide. The previous year she won a BBC News & Current Affairs sponsored award from the Radio Academy.

Teaching

Since 2014, she has been a Visiting Lecturer at The University of Huddersfield on the BA (Hons) Journalism course.

Family

Monica lives in Yorkshire with her fiancé and her dog, Tilly, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
