Enclava, officially the Kingdom of Enclava, is a self-proclaimed micronation, situated at first between Croatia and Slovenia, and later - after learning the territory is claimed by Slovenia - in a territory between Croatia and Serbia.
Description
There is no distinction of nationality, race and religion in the country and the citizens have the right to freedom of speech and are not subjected to taxation. It is unlikely, however, to receive the official recognition of other nations. According to The Telegraph, more than 5,000 people have applied for honorary citizenship of Enclava, which will have five official languages, English, Polish, Slovenian, Croatian, and Mandarin. The country's currency will be the Dogecoin.
Territory at Croatia–Slovenia border
Before May 22, 2015, Enclava was situated on an unclaimed parcel of land strip at the Croatia–Slovenia border. During a visit to Slovenia in April 2015, Piotr Wawrzynkiewicz and his friends learnt from locals that there was an unclaimed strip of land at the Croatia–Slovenia border near the Slovenian village of Brezovica pri Metliki, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) west of Croatia’s capital Zagreb. Following the breakup of former Yugoslavia in 1991, several new states emerged in the region with many border disputes that left some territories as terra nullius. This geographical discrepancy enabled the creation of Enclava on a tiny 100 sqm (1,070 square feet) stretch of no man's land.
Territory at Croatia–Serbia border
In May 2015, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said that the territory was Slovenian and that the determination of land borders between Slovenia and Croatian should take place in the court of arbitration. The founders of Enclava stated that they respected the independence of other countries, their boundaries and international law, they ceased all activities related to the establishment of the new state at the strip of land at the Croatia–Slovenia border. To ensure the continued development of the new state, they stated they had claimed the second of the largest land portions along the Danube river at the Croatia-Serbia border (Pocket 1) near Liberland.
