Hans Blix (born June 28, 1928) is the head of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission, a position he has held since January 2000. He was born in Uppsala, Sweden.

In 2002, the commission began scouring Iraq for weapons of mass destruction which the United States and the United Kingdom claim Iraq has, with Blix as the chief weapons inspector.

Although Iraq claims it got rid of all its weapons of mass destruction, Blix's team reported in early December 2002 that they found mustard gas in a shed whose door was blocked by heavy equipment.

Blix had previously been the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency between 1981 and 1997.
