Area code

786 is an area code in the Florida Keys. As an overlay area code, it shares geography with other codes in order to increase the area's pool of usable numbers, bringing ten-digit dialing to the Florida Keys. What is interesting is that Florida is the Sunshine State, and that 786 spells out Sun on the telephone keypad.
