WrestleMania 33 will be the thirty-third annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE for the Raw and SmackDown brands. It will take place on April 2, 2017, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. It will be the second WrestleMania to be held at this venue, which hosted WrestleMania XXIV in 2008, and the third to be held in the state of Florida. It will be the seventh WrestleMania to be held in an outdoor arena, following IX, XXIV, XXVI, XXVIII, 29, and 31.

Production

Background

WrestleMania is considered WWE's flagship event, having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.

The ticket sales went on dated on November 18, 2016, with individual tickets costing $38 to $2,130. On October 31, 2016, traveling packages with accommodation ranging from $950 to $5,900 per person were sold.

Storylines

The card will include matches resulting from scripted storylines and have results predetermined by WWE on the Raw and SmackDown brands. Storylines are produced on WWE's weekly television shows, Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, and 205 Live, the latter of which is cruiserweight-exclusive.

As per tradition, the winner of the Royal Rumble match earned a title match for a world championship in the main event of WrestleMania. This year, the winner had the choice between Raw's WWE Universal Championship or SmackDown's WWE Championship. The 2017 match was won by Randy Orton, the second time in his career, and he has chosen to challenge for his brand's WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33.
