File:FreeFlyer_GUI_Screenshot.jpg Deletion
Hello! I only just now noticed that the image above was deleted back in September due to "F6: Non-free media file with no non-free use rationale (TW)". I read your readme on this, but I'll confess to being unfamiliar with Misplaced Pages policies so I'm unsure what to do to provide a fair-use clause. I'm in a position at the software's owning company to provide such fair-use for screenshots of the tool, and I'd like a screenshot to exist on the page to improve its quality. Thoughts? 38.103.29.194 (talk) 18:20, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Love's Gentle Maw
Hi, I was going to ask why you arbitrarily deleted Love's Gentle Maw as I was going to redirect it to Tanks of Zen but I went to the link at the top of this page and I have a pretty good idea. FYI, I am in the process of doing a major overhaul of my contributions to Misplaced Pages. I respectfully ask that you not deleting Tanks of Zen just yet as I have an idea about keeping the information about the band now that Wallflower (which wasn't started by me) has been tagged for notability. Thank you. Shaneymike (talk) 01:55, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
I am in the process of doing a major overhaul of my contributions to Misplaced Pages due to lack of notability. So far, I've redirected American Hangover to Tanks of Zen, Fools Dance (EP) and They'll Never Know to Fools Dance, Spin the World to Mistrust, Babacar (Babacar album) to Babacar (band), Neon Christ 7” and Neon Christ 2x7" to Neon Christ. See User_talk:Boleyn#Sarah_Fimm_albums. Would it be too much to ask you not to arbitrarily delete Tanks of Zen just yet? I have an idea as to how to retain the information now that Wallflower (My Sister's Machine album) (which again wasn't started by me) has been tagged for notability. I just need time to implement it. Shaneymike (talk) 02:24, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Shaneymike: I did not arbitrarily delete Love's Gentle Maw; another editor proposed its deletion, which went uncontested for seven days. Tanks of Zen has not been tagged for deletion, so it won't be deleted. — ξ 06:42, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- Oh okay. I didn't see that it was tagged. My apologies.--Shaneymike (talk) 09:17, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry to keep bombarding your talk page. I just thought I'd mention that whoever it was that tagged the article for deletion never bothered to inform me, and that's why I thought you arbitrarily deleted it.--Shaneymike (talk) 10:34, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Kamehameha Schools Song Contest
I noticed that you deleted this article which I had proposed for deletion. However, it has now been recreated in a form that seems to be just a copy of the previous content. If so, the history of the article should be restored for attribution purposes (or the article should be re-deleted or sent to AFD). Can you please have a look? Deli nk (talk) 22:22, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
Improper image deletion
You closed Misplaced Pages:Files for discussion/2016 July 5#File:Knowledge Network logo.svg as "delete", but this image is substantively different from the existing logos at Knowledge Network, to the point that words alone simply do not suffice to describe the changes. Furthermore, you almost certainly didn't consider an extremely important point that is specific to this article: all of the other images are stated to be public domain. One fair use image for the article is certainly permissible! Mdrnpndr (talk) 03:22, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Mdrnpndr: Being "different" from the other logos is not a sufficient enough reason to use a non-free logo in a gallery; WP:NFG discourages such usage. The one "keep" vote failed to properly address the nominator's concern (and following "delete" opinion which is founded in WP:NFCC#8). Remember: per WP:NFCCP: There is no automatic entitlement to use non-free content in an article or elsewhere on Misplaced Pages. — ξ 04:34, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- The nominator's rationale was utterly incorrect per WP:NFCCP, and I quote: "Multiple items of non-free content are not used if one item can convey equivalent significant information." (emphasis added) This criterion simply does not apply here, because there are not "multiple items of non-free content", but rather only one item. There was no other criterion mentioned anywhere in the discussion, including by yourself, and the "delete" opinion you're referring to uses a spurious argument, as the presence of a very different logo would indeed "significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic" (consider readers who vaguely remember the channel from years ago, for example). Bottom line: you simply deleted the image because you felt that it violated policy, and that is not right at all. Mdrnpndr (talk) 21:06, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- I deleted the image because that is how I determined the consensus of the discussion. If you don't agree with my closure, you are free to take it to WP:DRV. — ξ 01:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

File:Aaron Resnick.jpg
Hi Explicit. Thanks for closing Misplaced Pages:Files for discussion/2016 October 3#File:Aaron Resnick.jpg. Any suggestions on what to use for a source for this file now that File:Resnick, Wright and Henken.jpg has been deleted? Did the full version happen to be provided with a source? For reference, there is no longer a Commons version of the file as well. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:08, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: The deleted image just mentions 'Roland Reisley' as the author/source, so there's not much information there, either. — ξ 01:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
File:Hossein Banai.jpg
Can you tell me why this was deleted without notifying me, the uploader? And it sure had a source when I last looked at it...--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 14:45, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Kintetsubuffalo: You did receive a notification, which you can see here. You listed the author on the description page, but did not provide a source to verify that the image met the terms of {{PD-Iran}}. When and where was this image first published? — ξ 01:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- That was Fastily asking me a question regarding a possible move to Commons. Nothing with a red stopsign or a warning the thing would be lost... How do i make your diff template work to see what you're talking about?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 02:22, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- Went back through 9 years of e-mails, the source is http://andisheh-donbosco.com/index.php?option=com_ponygallery&func=viewcategory&catid=2&Itemid=56 --Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 03:50, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Kintetsubuffalo: That's a good start, but there is still insufficient information. The image's page says it was uploaded onto the website in 2008. Unless I've missed something, I don't see any confirmation that this image was first published at least 30 years prior. — ξ 03:49, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

- What if we revert to the original fair use tag for a deceased person, since I can't read Farsi well enough to go down that rabbit hole?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 14:53, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Kintetsubuffalo: Very well, I've undeleted the file. Please make sure to add a proper non-free license as well. — ξ 00:09, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Fado Camané page
Hello,
I am writing you about the page Fado Camane that was deleted. Could you please tell me why? Arco Films is the producer of the movie and Bruno de Almeida its director. It was inserted by Bruno de Almeida in order to include a missing content on wikipedia. It is a documentary movie about a famous Português fado singer called Camané. This article has nothing that violates copyright. Hoping to hear from you soon My best regards Vaness — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arco films (talk • contribs) 18:58, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Arco films: Hi, Fado Camané was deleted because another editor proposed its deletion, which went uncontested for seven days. It was not deleted because of copyright-related matters; the deletion rationale read, "Unreferenced film with no credible claim of significance". For a better understanding, please take a look at the notability guideline for films. — ξ 01:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
The Lying Student
Hi Explicit. I endorsed the hoax prod on The Lying Student, an article created in January 2015. It qualifies for our Hoax Museum; would you restore and move it there per the instructions at WP:HOAXLIST, please. Thanks, — Sam Sailor 01:29, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Warren Winiarski's photo
Hi, we received a ticket to OTRS about a photograph that you've deleted.
Can you please check if File:2015 Image of Warren Winiarski, winemaker.jpg is the same as File:Warren Winiarski.jpg, and if the author is the same? Cheers, Ruthven (talk) 13:34, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Ruthven: Hi, the images are not the same. The deleted file shows the subject sitting down at a table with a glass of wine, facing forward, and in a sky blue button-down dress shirt. The source reads: "Joanne Lee, Warren's assistant, sent the image to me personally"; the author is "Warren Winiarski". — ξ 00:09, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
- Fine, I see. There is another related OTRS ticket for that other image, and it's possible that they get solved simultaneously. Thank you! --Ruthven (talk) 10:03, 10 January 2017 (UTC)
Needing to make serious additions but you've deleted it.
The Viva Hypnosis - just around the time you deleted it, became the first stage hypnosis show in over 15 years to perform in the West End of London and be granted a Hypnosis Licence by Westminster Council. This is a huge deal, was newsworthy and generated press and needed to be updated on wiki. Unfortunately, you had deleted this page under suspicion that it was not explicitly, but somewhat promotional and MAY have broken a Wiki rule - before anybody could get to the page to update it with these facts and references. Please can I put in an appeal to request that this page is reinstated so it can be updated with the relevant references and facts that make this page considerably more notable than it was before. Thank you for your time and attention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.27.38.198 (talk) 18:25, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Restore: Draft:Albert Palazzo to my Userspace
Hi Explicit, I noticed you very quickly deleted my draft article Draft:Albert Palazzo; in fact in less than 5 minutes of it being tagged by User:1989, very efficient of you; yet you did not give me an opportunity to even remove/contest the tag!. This is in fact an article I have been working on offline for some time and plan to create in the main-space. In the meantime, can you please restore the draft to my userspace.
Thanks Aeonx (talk) 01:01, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Aeonx: Very well, I've restored the draft article. It was tagged for speedy deletion, after all. — ξ 01:03, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/Daniel_Wattenberg
Please undelete https://en.wikipedia.org/Daniel_Wattenberg - what was purpose in deleting? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.51.64.251 (talk) 01:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. — ξ 01:51, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Günsel
Hello. You deleted the article as CSD G7, and noted in your summary that the creator could ask for a refund it they wanted the article back, so I thought I'd tell you that it should have been nominated for speedy deletion per CSD G4, not G7, since it was a recreation of an article deleted at AfD (see Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Günsel), with no improvements whatsoever, and thus should not be refunded. Cheers, - Tom | Thomas.W 11:20, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Thomas.W: That's correct. {{db-author}} automatically produces the edit summary, so it kind of slipped by me. — ξ 00:05, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
PSD logo
Hi, I was told to discuss a PUF discussion of File:PSD logo (Mexico).svg with you. My whole argument is located here. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 04:01, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Tbhotch: Yup, {{PD-Coa-Mexico}} is very broad to the point where it even covers logos of association football teams, something I learned relatively recently. I'll make the neccessary changes to the file's description page shortly. — ξ 00:05, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
WP:REFUND request
Hi, Explicit. I've got a narrow WP:REFUND request for you – could you place the now-deleted contents of Devyn Nekoda at User:IJBall/sandbox7 for me? I didn't realize that there was a draft at Draft:Devyn Nekoda, and I'd like to see if there's anything from the now-PRODed article that can be used to improve the draft... Thanks in advance! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 01:33, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
