Wikimedia project page for Main Page error reporting ShortcutsPlease submit error reports only for content that is currently or will imminently appear on the Main Page. For general discussion about the Main Page, kindly use its talk page. |
National variations of the English language have been extensively discussed previously:

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
Main Page toolbox- Protected pages
- Commons media protection
- Associated
- It is currently 00:04 UTC.
- Purge the Main Page
- Purge this page
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 00:04 on 13 January 2025) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors with "In the news"
] between president of Lebanon is missing. ArionStar (talk) 16:11, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- not linking the president of Lebanon article may have been a deliberate choice. MOS:OVERLINK encourages us not to link unless necessary, and the bold linked article already has details and a link on what the president of Lebanon is. — Amakuru (talk) 16:20, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Linking less, like here, was discussed at Misplaced Pages talk:In the news/Archive 112 § The Dark, Blue Sea. I would say I've still seen it similarly linked more often than not, but have no preference (other than consistency going forward). —Bagumba (talk) 17:48, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
Errors in "Did you know ..."
Current DYK
"... that Adrien Nunez (pictured), despite limited playing time, was more highly paid than some NBA draft lottery picks while in college?"
This hook is incomprehensible to an international audience. It doesn't even specify the sport. To me, it's highly unclear why Nunez would be paid at all during college, let alone what the monetary value of a 'projected draft pick' is (is that good?). The wording could even be taken as saying that he was paid in draft picks, which I doubt was the intention. It's probably too late to fix this blurb now, but I implore DYK to make their hooks understandable by general readers - not only experts in the topic. Modest Genius 17:05, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Another hook in the set, "that Lars Chemnitz was one of the first recipients of Nersornaat, the highest honor in Greenland?", doesnt specify the field, and the average person wouldnt really know what was received. Click perhaps? This has been standard as far as I can remember. Is there guidance that says otherwise? —Bagumba (talk) 17:30, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

- I was more saying this and the Nunez hook seemed to be standard and ok, pushing back that there was any prior standard on "dumbing down" hooks, but maybe consensus has changed. —Bagumba (talk) 18:35, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure. I see some hooks declined with notable wikilinked names because apparently clicking on the name isn't good enough for information. As for something different, Template:Did you know nominations/Oscar Goodman (basketball) has been languishing since November. SL93 (talk) 18:58, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- The problem is that NBA draft lottery isn't the greatest either. If you don't know what it is, this article isn't going to help you much. The lead contains "The NBA draft lottery is an annual event ... in which the teams who had missed the playoffs the previous year participate in a lottery process to determine the draft order in the NBA draft" and "After the top four positions are selected (from the lottery slotting system), the remainder of the first-round draft order is in inverse order of the win–loss record for the remaining teams, or the teams who originally held the rights if they were traded". Er, what? Black Kite (talk) 19:06, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

Notice to administrators: When fixing POTD errors, please update the corresponding regular version (i.e. without "protected" in the page title) in addition to the Main Page version linked below.Today's POTD
- I honestly doubt that John Henry Turpin meets the "up to scratch" bit of WP:POTD/G; it has six citation needed tags and an orange-banner uncited section. Definitely nowhere near GA, although that's far from a POTD requirement. charlotte 02:28, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- I've removed all of the uncited information, although now I'd say it's too short for a GA. EF 02:31, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
