:I think it's a long shot. The first problem is the proponderence of non-cricket afficianados there, many of the regulars couldn't tell their "carry the bat" from their "stumped off a wide". Secondly, as you note, we have the IPL posted, and we pretty much automatically post the World Cup, so there'll be people saying "only 13 teams play this worldwide so it's only marginally more significant than American Football", for instance. If the article was dazzling, I'd be almost certain to support having said all that. ] (]) 18:17, 5 March 2017 (UTC) :I think it's a long shot. Hello. A billion years ago, you made this beauty. Any chance you can do an update? Just to add to the fun, the source seems to be dead; not sure where to find a new one. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:16, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

I could probably do something similar but unless you get the data, it's gonna be a toughie... The Rambling Man (talk) 12:19, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
WT:FOOTY can still be really excellent sometimes. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 13:57, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

OTD births and deaths

If you wish to add some births and deaths to forthcoming OTDs, you'll need to work at least two days ahead. Feel free to do so. Mjroots (talk) 06:28, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Will do. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:34, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

OTD updates

I previously was doing them two days in advance, but a while ago I missed a day and we lost that one-day buffer. To alleviate the time crunch, I'm making an effort this weekend to go up to three days in advance so we have more time to review the changes (plus, this gives you the opportunity to make any edits directly). Thanks. —howcheng {chat} 19:51, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

No problems Howcheng. I know how it goes. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:50, 19 February 2017 (UTC)

Welcome

Information icon Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I'm not sure what it is you failed to assume good faith about exactly, but I'm sure there's something in your diffs that'll come up. </sarc>--WaltCip (talk) 18:15, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Gracias compadre. It's not quite there, but we're close to having the lunatics in charge of the asylum! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:51, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Eight years?

Seriously? Eight years? Can't quite believe it. Anyway, I had to drop you a line to say I hope Sunday lunchtime is a pit of misery for you before your life returns to roses and sunshine with your lovely family thereafter. May the better team win by a hefty margin. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 12:56, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

I'm looking forward to it. We're playing quite a bit better lately, your boys are hit-and-miss at best. Should be fun! The Rambling Man (talk) 13:55, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Hit-and-miss? It's the weirdest season I can remember. I've seen a stat that shows we're in the top 5 for every league in Europe for goals scored (although presumably the winter break in Europe and the masses of games we play will distort that). To which another Canary responded, "Just imagine if we were playing well". Amen to that. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 14:50, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Nobody likes me, everybody hates, I think I'll go and eat worms...

Well, not everyone. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:55, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Leave your worm eating until Sunday tea time. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 15:12, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Happy to be in the list ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:56, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Hate is such a harsh term, and the poor worms don't need to be eaten. Maybe you should have a proper home cooked meal and a nice holiday somewhere. Govvy (talk) 16:19, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
Or maybe TRM is channeling his inner robin. Think comfort food.... 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 16:59, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

It may not last, but I'm loving it while it does... The Rambling Man (talk) 13:26, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
See what I mean? The Rambling Man (talk) 13:27, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
Oh well, maybe next year? Maybe we should just redirect Pride of Anglia to Norwich City F.C.? Dweller what do you think? Joseph2302 (talk) 13:55, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
I'd hardly be proud of a team which has had that 56 million quid spent on it which can't even stuff a team whose had less than a million spent on it, at home too!! Moral victory is ALL MINE! (Not to mention we were denied a stonewall pen)... The Rambling Man (talk) 13:56, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

<-I think we've sold more value than we've bought of late, but in any case the result didn't really reflect the balance of play. But in a really weird season, I'm glad we didn't lose to some flukey late own goal or something. Looks like we'll be playing each other again next year. Who knows who'll be managing each side by then. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 10:37, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

I thought it was a half-decent game, less feisty, more footy than normal. Our 'keeper was the MOTM by a mile, just a shame he made one single mistake in the entire game.... The Rambling Man (talk) 10:38, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Agreed on all counts. I actually hate derby games. I rarely enjoy the game (despite our good run in recent years) and truly despise the atmosphere of subdued and sometimes not-so-subdued violence that some of the more Neanderthal types that follow both sides try to engender. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 10:42, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Slow handclap, slow death

For obnoxiousness way beyond the call of duty, and for an inevitable indefinite block just round the corner, I award ___________ the "Slow handclap, slow death" order of merit. Pesky redactionists. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:52, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Annoyed rant

Do you ever get annoyed with cleaning up an article, checking it's all sourced for ITN, only for somebody to walk in off the street and add some unsourced content without so much as an edit summary? Ritchie333 11:28, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Yes, but don't forget, this is Misplaced Pages, the encyclopedia anyone can ruin! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:37, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
That's why I prefer to work forward from the source to the article. Adding content and then having to hunt around for a source is iffy. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:07, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Oh Land

Hello! Just a bit ago, you left some comments and your support on my featured list candidate which was unfortunately archived due to inactivity. I have recently renominated it (the link is here) and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing the same thing again here. Thank you very much, Carbrera (talk) 03:09, 1 March 2017 (UTC).

Hey, thanks for promoting the above list. I have a concern though. It's been 24 hours and the bot still hasn't updated the article's talk page nor has it added the featured star to the article. What do you think happened? Thanks, Carbrera (talk) 19:05, 2 March 2017 (UTC).
It happens, don't worry, it won't miss out. Bots are slow sometimes. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:41, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Sorry to keep bothering you, but it has been over three days and still nothing from the bot. Should I be doing something on my side? Thanks for all of your help, Carbrera (talk) 00:47, 5 March 2017 (UTC).
No, we're looking into it. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:14, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

WP:ANI

A courtesy FYI, that I mentioned your name in a thread about the banned user Soft Skin. Just wondering where someone labeled you a Holocaust Denier (which I very much doubt you would be.) ←Baseball Bugs carrots15:34, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

lol I just bet TRM loves waking up to big new yellow messages entitled WP:ANI :D ;) — O Fortuna! 15:40, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Yellow? ←Baseball Bugs carrots15:45, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
I answered your question at ANI Bugs. In short, ridiculously over-reacting editor upset at wikipedia's quality standards applying to all content (regardless of subject) takes absurd position. Only in death does duty end (talk) 15:54, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
... and grossly and ignorantly insults two of Misplaced Pages's longest term editors by claiming their motives are akin to "Holocaust denial"... The Rambling Man (talk) 15:56, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
I've seen it now. And it IS grossly insulting. You have often opposed a main-page posting, not on merit of the subject, but on quality of the article, and that's totally appropriate. Anyone familiar with your work at ITN and the like should be well aware of that. ←Baseball Bugs carrots16:00, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Well quite, but frankly some opinions are so ridiculous they really do not merit a response. This was clearly in the obviously ridiculous and worth no time or attention area. Anyone who *genuinely* thinks that way should just not be engaged with. Only in death does duty end (talk) 16:09, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Personal attack

From an esteemed admin. The same admin, I believe, who called me a prick? WOW!! All admins are equal, some are more equal than others. The Rambling Man (talk) 23:49, 4 March 2017 (UTC)

I'm on it. El_C 23:54, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
Don't stress it. Some admins can do whatever they like, some can't. Floq is in the former category, I was in the latter. It's not a big issue. I'm getting used to the one-rule/one-rule thing. The Rambling Man (talk) 23:56, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
No, they can't. We all must adhere to the same rules we enforce. I've left the user a warning about personal attacks. El_C 00:06, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Well it's a repeat offence and nothing is done about it realistically. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:40, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Well, if it repeats, let me know. Otherwise, feel free to submit an ANI report for other admins to comment on. El_C 16:33, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice but it'll have no impact at all, particularly in this case. The "admins" will simply divert any case onto my former cases, and will probably be heralded for their saintliness. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:18, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

You say "admins"—are you not an admin, too? That's a rather cynical view. I would hope any case is considered according to its merits (on the strength of its evidence). El_C 18:25, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

Nope, you missed all the drama. I'm a former admin who never called another editor or admin a prick and never told another editor or admin to fuck off. The view is absolutely 100% bang on the money. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:27, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
I missed a lot—I stand corrected. Well, I, at least, try to approach any case according to its merits (on the strength of its evidence). El_C 18:41, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
Yep. It's ironic that editors are blocked without hesitation for telling someone to fuck off, yet admins are barely touched, even after the "prick" incident. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:43, 5 March 2017 (UTC)

2017 Pakistan Super League Final

Hi, do you think this could make potential nominee for ITN? Pakistan Super League is not as big as Indian Premier League which appeared on in 2015 in the ITN but this one surely notable enough and recieved enormous press coverage from every part of the world throughout the tournament. Comments please. --Saqib (talk) 16:04, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
