Okay, I understand it now. I was thinking that extreme metal was more of a style of one of the subgenres of heavy metal, rather than death/black/thrash/doom metal bands being just plain extreme metal bands. Extreme metal

Okay, I understand it now. I was thinking that extreme metal was more of a style of one of the subgenres of heavy metal, rather than death/black/thrash/doom metal bands being just plain extreme metal bands.
