Don't miss the poem that Phaedriel chose for you: "There should be no despair for you, ... / Then, journey on, if not elate, / Still, NEVER broken-hearted!" --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:41, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Gerda. The Rambling Man (talk)
- I have heard of Phaedriel through various people but it seems she was active at a time when I was busy dealing with bottles and nappies. Anyway, let me cheer you up with some content news; the main reason I came here was actually to ask that I've been to the library today and got a bunch of book sources to write List of London mainline stations - and just wondered if that was an appropriate list title? Ritchie333 18:22, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- Interesting stuff.... We already have List of London railway stations, which doesn't really mention "mainline". We also have Main line (railway) which needs work. I guess, and this is common to all FLCs, if your scope is adequately defined, i.e. what is the definition of "mainline" (or main line?), then there's no problem at all. I certainly wouldn't baulk at that name. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:29, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- Right, I've done some digging around and it turns out there's an article for this already - London station group. Not an obvious name, but it's exactly what I'm looking for, so that's going to be the future FL in the project. Seems a bit odd to have Kensington (Olympia) in there, but there we go. - I'm pretty sure its a zone 1/2 thing (Kensington Olympia). Only in death does duty end (talk) 12:33, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- It was a Eurostar alternative/ diversionary terminus back in the day; I did a week of nights there c.?1997- best week's pay I never earned :D — fortunavelut luna 12:39, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

- Ritchie, for the complete poem (by Emily Brontë) - or the wealth of others, because Phaedriel assigned a different one to every recipient! - follow the link, then look for date or name. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:31, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- Today - a bit late - one of the women in music (July topic) pictured on the Main page, - I heard and saw the Wiesbaden bit. - Greeting from Slovakia --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:55, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings to you from the UK. I'll be in Austria (Wien) in a week or so, and then (perhaps) Serbia (Belgrad) a few weeks after that, and I'll be enjoying my time there. I was in Slovakia a decade ago, I enjoyed a few days in Bratislava. My best to you. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:58, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

- sharing (again?) the best advice I received - needed today for a chorale ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:43, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

ITN recognition for 2017 Sierra Leone mudslides
On 16 August 2017, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 2017 Sierra Leone mudslides, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. The Rambling Man (talk) 06:03, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
Recent years
I don't want to burn out the community on RFCs, but I think that after the RY guideline is downgraded to essay, the next step is to try to get broad community consensus on what the recent year pages ought to look like. Looking at just the "events" section, I think that pages like 1965 are pretty good. There are entries for not quite every day of the year, but somewhere around 15-20 entries per month. It's far from perfect--way too U.S. centric for one--but it gives a good picture of what happened that year politically and culturally. I think that's much more helpful than 2016, which attempts to limit it to only five or so events per month, but I know that others think that's what the pages ought to look like. What do you think about trying to set out those two visions as neutrally as possible for the next RFC? Basically saying, "Do we want the events sections to look like 1969 or like 2016?" I know that there will be howling from the RY regulars that it doesn't give any guidance on what events get picked, but I don't think that's actually the fundamental disagreement we're having. Once we know what we want these pages to be, then we can put together the right criteria to get us there. agtx 22:29, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
