The Church of Satan is a philosophical/cultural organization based on rejection of religion and spirituality. It draws its name from the Judeo-Christian concept of Satan as evil, and claims to represent everything that religions call evil. (As the Church rejects religion, the name is only meant as metaphor and parody.) For example, it encourages members to indulge in anything that gives them pleasure. It was established in 1966 by Anton Szandor LaVey in the United States.
