Hello,

I recently noticed that you are adding IPA to Bosnian football players, so I wanted to ask if you could do it for all Bosnian famous footballers, name and last name, since I think it's very useful for others to know how to pronounce them.

Thank you!

@4TheWynne: I'm not going to disrupt it! I think US$ and US should be a link so that they are clear, because they are not linked before. And there should be not space between $ and the number. That's what I edited. I just want it to be more standard. Are they unconstructive? LoveVanPersie (talk) 06:12, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

Tonny Vilhena

When you ping me, the notification won't disappear when you delete the thread. The Portuguese IPA is probably correct, but what is more important is the Dutch pronunciation that I've just put in the article. Mr KEBAB (talk) 07:21, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

@Mr KEBAB: Thanks!! But he is of Angolan descent. I mean the surname is perhaps right? LoveVanPersie (talk)
Dutch doesn't work like that. Portuguese and Spanish, on the other hand, do. Mr KEBAB (talk) 12:57, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
@Mr KEBAB: So isn't the surname Trindade de Vilhena? LoveVanPersie (talk) 13:54, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
I'm not convinced that we should use that template. See . FIFA and UEFA write his surname as simply Vilhena. His full Portuguese surname could be Trindade de Vilhena, but it doesn't appear that that is his Dutch surname. Then again, I haven't seen his documents. Mr KEBAB (talk) 14:13, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 16

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship (women), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kim Yun-mi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:01, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Long falling u in Serbo-Croatian

It's mistranscribed as ⟨ẉ⟩ (⟨w⟩ with a dot underneath it) in the HJP. The correct version is ⟨ȗ⟩. Mr KEBAB (talk) 01:18, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

@Mr KEBAB: Thanks for your reminder. I also found a problem: the r in hrvatski is transcribed . And now I am confused about rules of doubling the final consonant before adding -ed, -ing, -er, -est in English. The results I searched out in Google doesn't apply to some words like babysit and format, whose final consonants should be doubled accually although the final syllables aren't stressed. See link 1 and link 2. Is there any rule for those "exceptional" words? LoveVanPersie (talk) 15:26, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
That ⟨ẕ⟩ is actually ⟨r̀⟩, a short rising /ř̩/. Hrvatski is pronounced /xř̩ʋaːtskiː/ as an adjective and /xř̩ʋaːtski/ when it's an adverb. But these are more Bosnian pronunciations, since unstressed long vowels are mostly pronounced as short in Croatia and Serbia.
I don't think I'm the correct person to give you spelling advices. Try forum.wordreference.com. Mr KEBAB (talk) 15:59, 28 December 2017 (UTC)

Šramková

It's a feminine form. I don't know if we keep a separate page or integrate with Šrámek.Xx236 (talk) 11:26, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Well, I went only by what would ordinarily be expected from that spelling, but Pat91 at Forvo certainly does seem to pronounce it as you suggest. It is, however, for another Coquelin. I think that a far better way to find out would be to ask at fr:WP...........which I have now done. Now we wait. Kelisi (talk) 03:06, 25 January 2018 (UTC)>Coquelin"> >Coquelin">

@Kelisi: Hello. Do you have a reply there? LoveVanPersie (talk) 02:14, 11 February 2018 (UTC)>Coquelin"> >Coquelin">

Regrettably no, not yet. It may have been expecting a bit too much to get an answer by putting the question on the article's Talk page. I have therefore sought an answer directly from one of the article's contributors. We'll see whether that yields anything. Kelisi (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

Miloslav Mečíř Jr.

Your edit to Miloslav Mečíř Jr. contains a rather serious mistake. The sound doesn't exist in Slovak, it is a Czech sound. In fact, the absence of is one of the defining characteristics of Standard Slovak. I can see that you copy-pasted the IPA from Miloslav Mečíř, please don't do that unless you're sure that the transcription you want to copy-paste is correct. In this case, it wasn't.

I've replaced both instances of with , but this is the fourth time I had to correct your errorenous Slovak transcriptions this year. It's too much. I'm sorry, but it's clear to me that there are WP:COMPETENCE issues regarding your knowledge of the phonetics and phonology of Slovak. Please don't try to transcribe nor edit transcriptions of Slovak words anymore. You can't expect other editors to always (or even sometimes!) check your edits, you need to be sure that they are correct before you click save.

This is getting old. Mr KEBAB (talk) 18:19, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

This is also wrong. The correct IPA is - see . I really don't know what to make of all of this. You keep guessing the transcriptions, which is frustrating and just plain wrong. You need to know that the IPA is correct before you post it.

I'm considering reporting you. Mr KEBAB (talk) 16:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

, , are wrong too. The final sound in all cases is , not - see Slovak_orthography#Sound–spelling_correspondences. In Slovak, there can't be more than one long vowel in any given word.

In the case of , are you sure that Kristína is pronounced as opposed to ? Mr KEBAB (talk) 17:12, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Sorry. As for Nicolás Jarry, I was misled by the wrong pronunciation in Forvo... And I am sure it's . LoveVanPersie (talk) 12:41, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

I'm sorry about what you're going through. I can somewhat relate to that, as I'm familiar with having a depression. I've never had any suicidal thoughts, but I've never particularly liked myself (it's better now though). Now, I'm sure that that's not the same, but it's at least very slightly related. Maybe this will sound like a platitude, but harming yourself over words of some guys on the internet isn't worth it. It's very, very seriously not worth it. You said it yourself - you won't ever meet us in the real life. Don't do this, man. We're nobody to you outside Misplaced Pages.

I tried my best to provide constructive criticism to you in a neutral manner, but I apologize if you feel that I was too harsh for you at times. I'm just trying to make WP a quality encyclopedia, that's all. Maybe my English isn't as good as I thought and I come across as rude when I don't mean to. That could also be the case.

As much as I hate doing this now (given the situation you're in), but this edit of yours wasn't a correction but its opposite. /sp/ isn't a valid syllable onset in Spanish, just as /st/ and /sk/ aren't. Most native speakers of Spanish speakers can't pronounce syllable-initial /sp, st, sk/ without adding an /e/ in front of it, and that has historical reasons. There are few speech-conscious people who make an effort not to add an initial /e/ in such cases (e.g. the guy who played Pascual Gandia in Rebelde consistently called his school , but I'm pretty sure that he was taught to think of the name as if it was spelled Elite Ways Cool instead of Elite Way School, which was its actual name. As far as I can remember, most actors that played in Rebelde didn't aspirate their coda /s/'s, so it was a good tactic).

I think you should refrain from transcribing Spanish and editing existing Spanish transcriptions for now. Take a break, get your hands on the relevant literature (see the bottom of Spanish phonology) and come back when you're ready. If that means improving your English beforehand so that you can read said literature with understanding (it probably does mean that, I'll be honest with you), so be it. I'm aware that most of your Spanish transcriptions are correct, but the mistakes you're making are typically beginner ones and the margin of error is too big.

As much as I feel for you, I'll repeat what I said a few days ago: I don't want to correct your edits anymore and I feel that I shouldn't have to do it. Let's sort this out please. I don't think of you as stupid or useless (pardon me for using wrong words if that's the case, I don't remember your original post that got deleted). You're obviously capable of useful edits, but there's room for improvement. Mr KEBAB (talk) 18:38, 14 February 2018 (UTC)

@Mr KEBAB: Thanks for your consideration. Can I just corret those obvious errors? LoveVanPersie (talk) 00:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
I've already corrected them. What I have a problem with is how often you post errorenous transcriptions, not the mere fact that you make mistakes (we all do). Let me repeat: I don't want to check nor correct your edits any longer. You need to make sure that your transcriptions are error-free before you post them. If that means that you have to do extra research or study Spanish phonology (or improve your English so that you can study Spanish phonology), so be it.
I mean what I say and I won't warn you again. If I see that you're WP:NOTGETTINGIT the issue goes to the Administrator's noticeboard. I care too much about the quality of WP to just let this go. Mr KEBAB (talk) 01:42, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
