I came to this page specifically to find out more about customs that <i>surround</i> drinking, and found pretty much nothing, so I guess there's a hole to fill in. I propose sections about
* toasts | |||
* religious functions of alcoholic drinks
* association of particular beverages with particular occasions
* drinking songs | |||
* drinking etiquette (who buys, "rounds", and so on)
* "speeches" | |||
* drinking games | |||
There are separate articles about almost all of those things, but for this article not even to mention any of them is unfortunate.
I clicked in from ], hoping to find other examples of similar customs around the world; I'm sure there are tons. So mostly what I think is missing is little summaries of aspects of world drinking customs, with links to the main articles thereupon.

: I'd propose also reshaping it to a country-by-country approach: it's Anglocentric, anecdotal, and I'm not sure what binge-drinking is doing in here, either. It's a complete mess at the moment. Needs a lot of TLC. Anyone? ] (]) 11:30, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
