Now you are telling me that I can't even add to my own /Talk what I like? Is there a grownup in the house?

Revision as of 21:08, 5 November 2006

Please Note Do not hesitate to contact with me. If you leave me a message or ask me about something, I will send you a message, but for comments, I will reply here in this talk-page. But, Do not request me about protecting, semi-protecting the article until I become Administrator. If I make mistake, I will apologize for them and I'll fix it. Please be Civil.

I am busy in real life and may not respond swiftly to queries, but I keep working on Misplaced Pages When I have times to contribute the articles.

Wikipediholic test

The test is at Misplaced Pages:Are You a Wikipediholic Test, it's mainly meant as a joke. If you feel like taking it, you might want to use the automated version. Cheers, Mak (talk) 03:01, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Re:Admin Coaching.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, so I'll try and explain, and if it doesn't answer your question you can always get back to me for clarification!

If you are interested in being coached under the Esperanza admin coaching programme you need to sign up at the bottom of the "Requests" list on that page. Eventually (there is a very long backlog there) you will be assigned (i.e. you don't ask anyone personally for it) a couple of coaches to help you out with admin related skills and tasks.

You might have seen my personal rfa reviews subpage. This is totally separate from the admin coaching program, and is something I do independently from anyone else. If you ask me to, I'll take a look at your contributions, see how suitable you'd be to become an admin, with the view to nominating you if I think you'd be suitable. I'd rather that only people who were reasonably confidant that they will soon be suitable for a WP:RFA nomination asked for that. If I nominate you via that method, I will provide plenty of support during the RFA process. Also note, that because I'm pretty busy in real life, there will also be a long wait before I have enough time to complete anything on that page.

If another user decides to nominate you, it is up to them how much support they provide. You are probably better off waiting for a nomination from an experienced user (for example, but not necessarily, an admin) than accepting one from a new user, who will have less idea how the RFA process works.

None of the above is in any way a guarantee that you will become an admin, there are just ways to help out.

Hope that helps :) Petros471 09:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Misplaced Pages there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hey Daniel, thank you for supporting my recent RfA. It finished with an amazing final tally of 160/4/1. I really appreciate your support. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:25, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

User:NoSeptember/List of Administrators

Yes, the colors are based on the promotion date of each admin (see the page's intro). The semiactives, inactives and formers are all listed in three sections at the bottom of the page. Feel free to update the chart if you like, I use a slightly different color code each month now, which is listed on the talk page. I review any edits that are made, so don't worry if you get it slightly wrong at first, I am always happy to have anyone who wants to update or improve my subpages to do so :). A humble request for your opinion

Hello! I hope you are feeling fine. Recently, you expressed an oppose opinion with regards to my RfA. I would like to thank your feedback on this but I need another critical feedback from you. If you could spare a few minutes to voice any concerns you may be having with regards to my contributions to this project since my last RfA on this page, I would be most grateful. Once again, thank you for your time! --Siva1979 06:03, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Debian

Pardon me if I seem rude, but is there some reason you are asking me about Debian? To the best of my knowledge it is just another distribution of linux. And no I do not use Debian. Yes I do use firefox almost exclusively. For some reason you seem to think I have extensive knowledge regarding Debian, why is that? Have you confused me for someone else? I'm afraid you have confused me. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 19:15, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

VandalSniper

Thanks for applying to use VandalSniper! You have been approved. If have not already done so, you may find instructions to install VS on the project page.

As some of the libraries VandalSniper runs on are currently in transition, there have been a few issues reported with setup. At the moment, Linux is the most compatible platform for VS. If you have questions or problems, you may find help on the project page or its talk page. Please also feel free to contact me for help and I will do my best to assist you.

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Misplaced Pages policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Misplaced Pages because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Misplaced Pages easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Misplaced Pages. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Misplaced Pages.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Misplaced Pages policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Misplaced Pages is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
