The term Arabian Gulf is used by all Arabic nations and may refer to the:
- Persian Gulf, the internationally recognized name.
- Red Sea, an older name used by some European nations until the 19th century, which used to be known as the Arabian Gulf.
Since the 1960s, starting with Gamal Abdel Nasser and pan-Arabism, Arab states have often used the name Arabian Gulf for the body commonly known as the Persian Gulf, even in their English publications. This is very controversial, and not commonly used outside of the Arab world or recognized by the United Nations and other international organizations.
