Tarell Basham (born March 18, 1994) is an American football defensive end for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ohio.

Early years

Basham attended Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount, Virginia. During his career he had 82 tackles and 16 sacks. After high school, he attended Hargrave Military Academy for a year. He committed to Ohio University to play college football.

Basham has three siblings; Thaddeus Basham, Kamiyah Ford and Tajia Dawson.

College career

Following high school, Basham spent one year at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia, a military post-graduate school, before enrolling in Ohio University in the 2013, where he played until 2016 for the Ohio Bobcats football team. As a senior, he was the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and recorded a school record 11.5 sacks. For his career he had 152 tackles and a school record 29.5 sacks.

Basham was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round (80th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

On October 4, 2018, Basham was waived by the Colts.

Basham was claimed on waivers by the NY Jets.
