HMP Lincoln opened as a local Prison in 1872 holding remand and convicted prisoners. HMP Lincoln opened as a local Prison in 1872 holding remand and convicted prisoners. The Establishment is beginning to take on the role of a community prison retaining a higher proportion of convicted prisoners. It is currently undergoing a major refurbishment project.

Operational capacity: 490 as of 31st January 2006

Regime: The regime at Lincoln includes production workshops, laundry, education, and vocational training courses. Offending behaviour courses include PASRO. Special features such as Listeners Scheme and charity workshops are available. There are also community links, for instance, groups that visit the prison gymnasium.

Healthcare: HMP Lincoln has type 3 healthcare centre.
