- Macedonian troops, commanded by Parmenion, trusted lieutenant of King Philip II, arrive in Asia Minor, but are driven back by Persian forces under the command of the Greek mercenary Memnon of Rhodes.
- King Philip II of Macedon is assassinated by one of his personal bodyguards Pausanias of Orestis. His son, Alexander III, who will become Alexander the Great, succeeds him.
