Survivor: Edge of Extinction is the upcoming 38th season of the American competitive reality television series Survivor, to air on CBS. The season will feature 14 new contestants competing with four returning players. The season will premiere on February 20, 2019. It was the seventh season to be filmed in Fiji, and marks the 12th season to feature returning players.
This season of Survivor introduced Extinction Island, a secluded location where voted out players resided for a chance to come back into the game. Upon being voted out, players were given the opportunity to exit the game permanently or to take a boat to Extinction Island, where they were to endure the elements until predetermined points during the game, at which point they were presented with the chance to return; players living on Extinction Island were given the option of permanently exiting the game at any point.
