== Imperialistic bot campaign ==

I removed the India and Hinduism ads from the Gautama Buddha article. I'm getting very upset by this imperialistic campaign to claim anything remotely related for India and Hinduism -- by bot, no less, without even communicating with the editors who usually work at the articles. When I calm down a little and have a spare moment, I'm going to raise this issue at the Community Portal policy discussion. ] 17:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Revision as of 17:25, 21 November 2006

Lostintherush is currently lost in real life and may not respond swiftly to queries.
If you are wondering why LostBot is going on adding {{WP India}} to many article talk pages, I have put in a FAQ section here. Please go through them to understand the rationale.

Bot claiming articles for India project

What's with the bot stamping every article with the slightest connection to India with the India project boxes? I don't think everything produced in India (such as Bollywood movies, or music, etc.) needs a nationalistic stamp. Zora 01:00, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Zora, Bollywood movies and Indian music are very much related to India. I don't understand why you call it a "slightest connection". These articles will later be tagged with the subgroups. For example, Bollywood articles with "cinema=yes" parameter. We do this so that we can generate statistics such as the one shown on the right. I suggest you read this FAQ. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 01:17, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm not surprised Zora said something inflammatory like that. She accused me of perpetrating massacre, just for creating a couple of cats.Bakaman Bakatalk 04:26, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Can lostbot tag Hinduism articles?

Can you have lostbot tag WP Hinduism and Hindu mythology articles for those projects?--D-Boy 06:29, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes I can. Give me a few days to complete WP India. Will get on with WP Hinduism. Also need to figure out if I need to ask permission from WP:BAG -- Lost 06:34, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
On the matter, once you've done the above, any chance I could get you to tag some of the articles related to A-League player profiles. If so, I'll give you instructions on what specifically has to be done. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 08:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Definitely. Do let me know what needs to be done. I think I will need a blanket approval from WP:BAG. Right now, I have taken permission only for {{WP India}}. -- Lost

New to Misplaced Pages

Hi Lost, I am somewhat new to wikipedia. I created one user account and you put a toolbox on talk page of that account. Without doing much edits, I abonded that user account. Now with new user account i.e. Pruthvi I have contributed in few articles. I hope to keep this account permanently. I wish if you can tell me the template, which gives easy access to links for new comer. pruthvi 00:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

I congratulate you on your achievement and wish you all the best! So many things are in mess here that I feel disgusted and disappointed and as such I have reduced my activity here as no one would like to waste time in foolish discussion. However, I am still hanging on and I am sure that the Project shall continue to improve and attain still higher levels. Moreover, I have some real life working commitments which have also forced me to reduce my presence here. I thank you for your concern and once again wish you all the best. --Bhadani 14:19, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

2. When will Google pick up my new article? Thought they had bots that searched out new stuff almost instantaneously.

Need help moving Delhi Sealing Drive

Hi,

I've got some admin work for the new admin ;) The Delhi Sealing Drive needed a page move action to place it in the correct time context i.e. 2006. So I moved it to Delhi Sealing Drive, 2006 only to find later that there was already a redirect page with the title 2006 Delhi Sealing Drive. I feel, it would only be appropriate to move the page to the 2006 Delhi Sealing Drive title. Since there is already a redirect page with that title, this requires admin action. Thought, I'd leave it to you. Cheers. -- Chez 02:18, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Request of assistance for vandal user behaviour by Khoikhoi

Could the administation and users take an independent look for the following reversal of useful and pertinent contributions at the Mustafa Kemal Ataturk site please? It is very difficult for me not to interpret the revision by Khoikhoi as disrespectful vandalism and disruptive behaviour. More I studied his log history at various article related to the Turkish subjects and prior bans for the same disruptive behaviour, more concerned I became. Could someone help revert the edits he damaged and request him to be more respectful to others' work? Thank you.

Your speedies

As you requested on Category talk:Candidates for speedy deletion, I've looked through the articles you deleted today. Aside from the deletion summaries that I mentioned earlier on the category talk page, they all looked correct. There's some followup that I do whenever I delete an article that wasn't done with several of these, though it's not strictly required:

  • Particularly for speedies, check the article creator's contributions. Often you'll find other speedy candidates, or outright vandalism that needs reverting. This will also turn up images, which are almost never worth retaining; I tend to speedy images that have only ever been used on A7s (though strictly speaking they should go through WP:IFD), while images from G11'd articles can be deleted as spam themselves.
  • Depending on the article, check its whatlinkshere. A7s in particular tend to be linked from disambiguation pages and the like, while G4s should have been orphaned as part of the AFD process. On the other hand, most copyvios and almost all test pages should keep their redlinks.
  • Delete the talk page which you've just turned into a G8 by deleting its article. —Cryptic 21:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Hehe (blushes), somehow I missed it. Added my name to the list now. BTW, I thought of adding some more stuff on the left side of the newsletter before it is delivered, so that it would be bit symmetric. Anyway, that was a quick delivery. Please, can you go through it to see if any intertesting fact can be put for DYK nomination. Thanx, in advance. And once again, congratz ! Keep rockin' --NRS | /M\ 11:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

And yeah, I would like to work on a few articles to help them become FA status. Especially Shivaji & Indian rock which needs to be worked on a lot. --NRS | /M\ 13:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

    Thanks for reverting and warning

Hi Lost, Thanks for reverting the vandalised page and warning the user. I get surprised to see that the user's first and last contribution was on my page :) Shyam 16:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

    DYK

No, it's alright. I know, you've just become an admin and you certainly must be very busy. But I have nominated the article Ratnakar Matkari just now. I don't know if the wording, I've used, is proper though. Do take a look and make any changes if necessary. Bye, and keep rockin' --NRS | /M\ 17:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

    Shiny new buttons

Two weeks ago I couldn't even spell administratur and now I are one (in no small part thanks to your support). Now that I checked out those new buttons I realize that I can unleash mutant monsters on unsuspecting articles or summon batteries of laser guns in their defense. The move button has now acquired special powers, and there's even a feature to roll back time. With such awesome new powers at my fingertips I will try to tread lightly to avoid causing irreversible damage and getting into any wheel wars. Thanks again and let me know whenever I can be of use.

Your promotion of article Ilaiyaraaja to A-class

Dear Lost, I am very delighted to hear from you regarding the above! Appreciate you going through the article and it's satisfying to see that it pass for an A. Nonetheless, this is no signal for complacency; there is plenty of room for improvement so that we can elevate this article to FA class. Thank you very much for your time and your contribution to this article. With best wishes, AppleJuggler 10:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

    RfA thanks

    Thank you for the Support

I'd like to express my huge thanks to you, Lost, for your support in my recent RfA, which closed with 100% support at 71/0/1. Needless to say, I am very suprised at the huge levels of support I've seen on my RfA, and at the fact that I only had give three answers, unlike many other nominees who have had many, many more questions! I'll be careful with my use of the tools, and invite you to tell me off if I do something wrong! Thanks, Martinp23 14:22, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

    Thanks for your support!

A week ago I nominated myself, hoping to be able to help Misplaced Pages as an administrator as much as a WikiGnome. I am very glad many others shared my thoughts, including you. Thank you for your trust! Be sure I will use these tools to protect and prevent and not to harass or punish. Should you feel I am overreacting, pat me so that I can correct myself. Thanks again! Plug-in

Have not heard any news. I feel we don't need to wait for the plug-in. We should tag all the pages (geography ones too) with the generic India banner. When the plug-in supports us, we could do a fresh-run with it. Your thoughts? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 02:08, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

    Imperialistic bot campaign

I removed the India and Hinduism ads from the Gautama Buddha article. I'm getting very upset by this imperialistic campaign to claim anything remotely related for India and Hinduism -- by bot, no less, without even communicating with the editors who usually work at the articles. When I calm down a little and have a spare moment, I'm going to raise this issue at the Community Portal policy discussion. Zora 17:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
