- Thank you....its a subspecies...Human African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness is caused by two subspecies of T. brucei, T. brucei gambiense and T. brucei rhodesiense, while the third subspecies, T. brucei brucei, is only infectious to animals.Whispyhistory (talk) 08:56, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
